UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students distributed cloth masks and mini staple foods through their Student Community Services Program (KKN) Thematic FK UNS for the August 2021 Period. The targets of this program are security, cleaning, and parking officers who contributed to the vaccination process in the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) UNS. This event was held twice, on Thursday (12/8/2021) and Friday (20/8/2021).
The Team Leader of Group A5 FK KKN UNS, Syahrani Natilla Oktavia, stated that this program aims to share with the community and a form of students’ concern for the community amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
“There are 60 packages of staple foods containing daily needs such as rice, sugar, instant noodles, and two pcs of cloth masks. While distributing the packages, we also educate them to improve their awareness on the importance of maintaining the health protocols,” Syahrani explained.
Since the steep increases of Covid-19 cases in the mid of 2021, the government officially enforced the Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM). The government also promoted the use of double masks to slow down the spread of Covid-19.
“The PPKM leads to limited community movement that affects the socio-economic condition. Therefore we are moved to implement the sharing program for cloth masks and staple foods to the UNS academic members. We hope that this program could ease the security, cleaning, and parking officer’s daily needs during the pandemic,” Group A5 KKN Team Leader stated.
Through the supervision from Bulan Kakanita Hermasari, dr., MMedEd., as their field supervisor, the group hoped that their program would improve people’s awareness of maintaining health protocols through their education efforts.
“We also hope that the aids we shared will benefit in fulfilling their daily needs. This is our appreciation for the hard works of the security, cleaning, and parking officers in supporting the vaccination program implemented by FK UNS,” Syahrani concluded. Humas UNS
