UNS – Students of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta participated in the “Educlass” Financial Literacy event on Friday (4/10/2024), organized by the Environmental & Social Responsibility (ESR) team of Astra Credit Companies (ACC) in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of Indonesia. Held in the auditorium of the UNS Faculty of Law, the students gained insights on topics such as “Penanganan Investasi Ilegal, Pinjol Ilegal, Judi Online dan Self Improvement Leadership” (Handling Illegal Investments, Illegal Online Lending, Online Gambling, and Leadership in Self-Improvement).
The event began with the first speaker, Candra Halim Ash Shiddiq, an analyst in Financial Service Business Behavior Supervision, Education, Consumer Protection, and Strategic Management Services. Candra highlighted the increasing prevalence of digital crimes around us, with OJK stressing the importance of vigilance against illegal online lending, online gambling, illegal investments, and other forms of digital fraud. He also announced that OJK plans to expand its supervision to cooperatives, focusing on those with an open-loop structure.
“In 2025, OJK will extend its oversight to cooperatives, but only those with an Open Loop or open structure,” Candra stated.

The second speaker, Mita Fadila from Astra Credit Companies, discussed self-improvement in leadership. She emphasized the importance of self-management, highlighting the SMART method for goal-setting and team and task management. Mita stressed that leaders must have a clear vision, strong communication skills, integrity, and empathy. Key skills for effective leadership include adaptability, time management, conflict resolution, negotiation, and decision-making.
The event continued with a Q&A session moderated by the panel. Participants were given the chance to directly engage with the speakers, discussing topics from online gambling regulations and cryptocurrency legalization proposals to leadership challenges.
The involvement of OJK and Astra Credit Companies practitioners in this event demonstrates UNS’s commitment to Key Performance Indicator (KPI) 4, which promotes professional practitioners teaching on campus. Candra and Mita Fadila, as speakers, bring extensive professional experience from their respective institutions to UNS students.
