UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an International Job Fair with three Taiwanese companies in the auditorium of Faculty of Law (FH) UNS, Wednesday (23/10/2019). The companies were ACTi Corporation, HCP Pump Manufacture, and PEGATRON Corp.

The event entitled “UNS-Taiwan Job Fair” was a collaboration between Career Development Center (CDC) also UNS International Office (IO), and Taiwan Center, TETO Taiwan Trade Office in Jakarta, and Ministry of Economy Fair of Taiwan.

“This is the first international job fair held in UNS, normally the UNS CDC only presents national companies,” explained Murni Ramli, S. P., M. Si., Deputy of UNS International Office.

Meanwhile, UNS Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus said that the event aimed to open the opportunities of UNS alumni in particular for working in multinational and international companies. In addition, it is an effort in heading World-Class University which one of the things assessed is the number of alumni work in multinational companies.

“Our program is to absorb qualified students. It is a great opportunity to get jobs in Taiwanese Companies,” Prof. Ahmad stated.

James Chang, a Taiwanese company representative said that besides seeking talents from Indonesia, they also wanted to introduce the industrial system in Taiwan through a presentation.

“We are constantly looking for talents from Indonesia. You can stay to work in Taiwan. You can learn more about Taiwan and about Taiwanese companies,” James said.

A short presentation was delivered by Dr. Teresa Poon, First Research Division Chung Hua Institution for Economic Research. She explained about How to Live and Work in Taiwan.

Dr. Teresa also stated that Indonesia was one of Taiwan’s best business partners with 1.021 or 3.4% of professionals in Taiwan.

There are several reasons why UNS chose the Taiwanese companies as the job fair partners. One of them is the increasing expansion of Taiwanese companies in Indonesia.

“Hopefully, there will be more companies participating in the future. We also hope that these companies are willing to involve in incentive activities related to UNS faculties such as agriculture and economics. We have already signed an MoU, allowing UNS students to interact and work in Taiwan after graduation,” Murni Ramli concluded. Humas UNS/Kaffa/Try
