UNS – To suppress the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta extends the online lectures period until April 30th, 2020. This policy is regulated in Circular Number 13/UN27/SE/2020 regarding the Enforcement of Activity Restriction on UNS Campus, which directly signed by UNS Rector, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho.
With the extension of the online lectures, UNS students are requested to remain connected with the lecturer of each subject in order to follow the learning activity, either through https://spada.uns.ac.id/, https://ocw.uns.ac.id/, and any other supporting application.
Considering the spread of COVID-19 that does not allow for any classroom face to face lecture, the UNS Alumni and Graduate Association (IKA) realize its attention and contribution to UNS by providing assistance in internet quota credits for UNS students in need. This assistance is a form of the ‘Sedekah Pulsa’ program initiated by IKA UNS.
When contacted by uns.ac.id on Sunday (29/3/2020), the Chairman of IKS UNS, Budi Harto, said that ‘Sedekah Pulsa’ assistance in the form of internet quota will be given to thousand of UNS students.
“We all know that because of this COVID-19 disaster the students have to follow online lecture sessions from their home, thus several students need mobile credit support. Approximately there are 6,000 students that consist of Bidikmisi recipient students and non-Bidikmisi recipient students. It is estimated that until the end of this semester more or less Rp 50,000 per student. This idea emerges after there was a suggestion from the alumni on the campus,” said Budi Harto through a short message.
The President Director of PT. Adhi Karya (Persero) said that IKA UNS needs funding amounted to 300 million Rupiah to realize the internet quota assistance program. Further, Budi Harto explains that the funds are collected by IKA UNS, which he mentioned also from the IKA UNS cash account.
“(The program) needs 300 million Rupiah. This fund was taken from IKA UNS cash account, UNS Alumni Foundation, and golf committee,” he added.
Later, the internet quota assistance given by the IKA UNS will be distributed by the UNS Rectory, as the responsible party, to the UNS students who are listed as recipients. With the implementation of the ‘Sedekah Pulsa’ program, Budi Harto expressed his hope that UNS students can benefit from the internet quota assistance. Therefore, students can carry-out online lectures optimally.
“If the online lectures period is extended again in the future, IKA UNS will raise funds from the alumni for the students in need. I hope that this mobile credit assistance can be useful, thus in this condition the students can attend lectures well. I wish the alumni can help the UNS students who are in need,” Budi Harto concluded. Humas UNS/Yefta
