UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta will establish a Center for Excellence (PUI) of Disaster Mitigation. This plan was shared by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho when attending the 36th Anniversary of Bakorlak Disaster Response SAR UNS on Sunday (22/8/2021) through the Zoom Cloud Meeting.
To the Commander of Bakorlak Disaster Response SAR UNS, Gatot Sugiartono, M.H, the executive board of the university and faculty, and invited guests, who attended the celebration online, the Rector stated that the plan for the new Center for Excellence shows UNS awareness on the vulnerability of Indonesia regions on disasters.
“When there is a disaster in Indonesian regions, we are serious about establishing an initiation unit named as PUI Kebencanaan (PUI of Disaster Mitigation) by conducting a planning,” Prof. Jamal stated.
The planning mentioned by Prof. Jamal includes the fix the Bakorlak Disaster Response SAR UNS office in Kolonel Sutarto Street Nomor 150K, Jebres, Surakarta.
While waiting for this process to complete, Bakorlak Disaster Response SAR UNS is currently running its activities from Building D UNS Student Dormitory in Jebres Sub-district.
“We are establishing Bakorlak Disaster Response SAR UNS building. Now we hope that PUI Kebencanaan could complete or add the three PUIs (in UNS),” Prof. Jamal said.
Before planning for the new PUI, UNS has three PUIs, Lithium Battery, Javanology, and Center for Fintech and Banking UNS (UNS Fintech Center). Humas UNS
