UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) Award from the National Standardization Agency (BSN) for the first time. The award was given in Jakarta on Wednesday (11/21/2018). Vice Rector for Partnership and Planning Affairs, Prof. Widodo Muktiyo, said that UNS won the Silver rank.
“BSN held SNI Award 2018 since 2005 and this year was the 14th award,” Widodo explained during a press conference at the UNS Rectorate Building on Thursday (11/22/2018).
Widodo added, in 2017, SNI Award was awarded to 50 organizations and companies that performed well and consistently in implementing and promoting SNI. In 2018, the SNI Award was given to 56 organizations and companies. Organizations that register SNI Award change from year to year. In 2015, there were 151 organizations registered. In 2016, there were 108 organizations/companies. In 2017, there were 126 organizations/companies.
“This year, 208 organizations/companies have registered. Of the number, 71 organizations/companies passed the onsite or field visits. In the next stage, 56 organizations/companies were detemined as recipients based on the evaluation of the jury,” Widodo added.
Widodo continued that he SNI Award assessment process was carried out strictly by a jury team chaired by Rhenald Khasali economic experts with 19 members who were experts in the field of standardization and conformity assessment. The judges were from industry, government, universities, associations and management experts, good government, socio-economic, and financial.
The 2018 SNI Award recipients were divided into 12 categories. It differed from the previous year which only had 10 categories. There were two additional categories, namely the category of secondary education organizations and higher education organizations that have been accredited by the National Accreditation Agency and are valid for at least 2 years or per March 1, 2016.
This award was given as an appreciation for the high commitment in implementing SNI consistently and continuously, performing well, and being able to internalize the socio-economic and environmental aspects of the organization.
It is expected that SNI Award can become an organization’s reference to improve organizational performance because SNI Award assesses various aspects that can encourage organizational progress in realizing better performance, including management and leadership, customer focus, resource development, and business results. humas-red.uns /Tni/Dty
