Celebrating Lustrum 8 UNS, Library Unit held the workshop entitled “Writing a Great Paper and Getting it Published in a Research Journal” in the Seminar Room at the 7th floor of UNS Library, Wednesday (3/30/2016). The unit that officially had the new building in March, 11th 2016 cooperated with Elsevier – a publishing company of international journal whose head office is in Amsterdam. There were two presenters in the workshop conveying the materials: Valerie Teng-Broug (Elsevier Journal Publisher) and Nicholas Pak (Elsevier Solutions Consultant).

Valerie delivered the tips and tricks to make the journals published by Elsevier. She also gave the standart journal writing rule so that the journals meet the basic requirements to be published. In addition, she gave the tips in writing a good journal including how to cite the theories from the expert, how to filter the suitable source, how to create a strong manuscript, how to reach the intended audience, and how to use the appropriate language. Besides, she explained the steps of publishing the journal started from reviewing the journal, returning the journal to have both minor/major revision, and finally publishing the selected journal.

Meanwhile, Nicholas gave the comprehension to the audience which are dominated by the lecturers that after the journals have been published, they are expected to be the sources that cited by the other journal writers. He gave the tricks on how to make the journal accessible that is by sharing the links of their journals that have been published to the college students. It is one of the effective ways to make the journals accessed by the other researchers in the world.

Nicholas suggested the audience to share the journals link that have been published to the college students to make it the most cited journal

The chief of UNS Library Unit Muhammad Rohmadi stated that the event was in line with UNS vision that is now emphasizing in making UNS to be the World Class University (WCU). Rohmadi said that the literacy events will routinely be held to support the vision. In addition, he stated that the experts in any fields both national and international will be invited to share their knowledge. Therefore, UNS Library Unit will optimally contribute to support the literacy culture movement in achieving the WCU. (denty.red.uns.ac.id)
