In the circular dated 29 April 2020, Prof. Jamal stated that the decision to extend the activity restriction on campus is based on the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in Indonesia.
“Responding to the development of COVID-19 infections at the regional and national level, as well as a follow up to the Rector Circular Letter Number 13 /UN27/SE/2020 dated 26 March 2020 concerning the Implementation of Activity restriction on Universitas Sebelas Maret Campus, we deem it necessary to stipulate an Extension for the Implementation of Activity Restriction on Universitas Sebelas Maret Campus from 1 until 29 May 2020,” explained Prof. Jamal, Wednesday (30/4/2020).
The Rector Circular Letter contains provisions such as academic activities for UNS students will be conducted online and ‘Work from Home’ (WFH) for all UNS employees during COVID-19 pandemic.
“Teaching and learning activities will continue using online learning pattern, students follow learning activities online from their respective home. All UNS employees are expected to do work from their respective places of residence,” he added.

The activity restriction on UNS campus also contains calls for a temporary delay in all non-academic activities. Besides, campus access/exit is limited by strict supervision by campus security forces officers but taking into account access to vital places and emergency interests.
Apart from the activity restriction on UNS campus, Prof. Jamal in the circular also issued a policy that the employees of UNS Hospital and Medical Center UNS, will continue to come to work on a schedule that will be arranged by the Director of the UNS Hospital.
“With exception of Hospital and Medical Center UNS, both medical personnel, paramedics and education personnel continue to come to work, and will be regulated separately by the Director of the UNS Hospital,” he continued.
At the end of Rector Circular, Prof. Jamal also instructed that the permit regarding work/interests that require campus entry/exit can be given by the rector or official in charge
“Rector or official in charge can provide a permit to the academic members of UNS or certain parties, which due to the nature of their work or interests, especially activities related to Covid-I9 prevention and/or control efforts, requires them to enter and exit campus. The head of each work unit is required to implement this circular, while still considering emergency conditions and safety standards,” concluded Prof. Jamal.
