UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta announced the winner of national essay and speech competition to commemorate 75th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in the Synergy of the Interfaith Youth Generation in Realizing Pancasila Values Webinar on Saturday (6/9/2020). The competition takes the theme of Creativity in Creating Religious Harmony to Achieve Indonesia Development was conducted online since August 2020.
The Vice-Rector for Student and Alumni Affairs UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo stated that UNS is known as Kampus Benteng Pancasila (campus to protect Pancasila) which has six places of worship located in one integrated location. These six places of worship are a mosque, temple, vihara, Pura, Vihara, Confucian temple, a Christian church, and a Catholic church. Prof. Kuncoro appreciated all juries, speakers, participants, and committee who have contributed to this event.
“We deliver our gratitude to all parties who have participated in this competition and webinar. This event is held by student religious association in UNS, the association for Muslim, Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, and Confucian students. In achieving advanced Indonesia, unity in diversity is one thing that must be achieved together through the application of Pancasila values in daily life,” Prof. Kuncoro mentioned in his remark.
The 1st place winner for the essay competition is Muhammad Rifai from UNS who submitted his work entitled The Strategy to Grow Grassroots Community Religious Tolerance in the Post-Truth Era based on Digital Literacy using Local Wisdom Approach. Winning the second place is Hilwan Hafidzsyah from UNS with an essay entitled Religious Tolerance does not mean All is the same. Lastly, the third place is Nur Siami Fitriawati from Universitas Negeri Surabaya with an essay entitled RAGAM (Religious Tolerance Forum) to Strengthen National Identity through Social Media for Advanced Indonesia. UNS invited experts in the field as juries. In the essay competition, Prof. Faruk, humanist from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Dr. Dwi Susanto the Head of Indonesian Language and Literature Program Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) UNS were invited as jury.
In the speech competition, the first position was won by Ratu Gracia Ginting from Institut Teknologi Bandung, followed by Tiara Mahatmastuti from UNS at the second place, and Nadya Aulia Syifa from Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang at the third place. The competition invited three juries, Prof. Diah Kristina, Professor of FIB UNS, Drs. Hanindawan, arts practitioner, and Prof. Yudha Triguna, Sociologist from Universitas Hindu Indonesia.
Concluding the remark, Prof. Kuncoro invited all participants in the forum to always apply Pancasila values. Humas UNS
