UNS — Alumni Association (IKA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta invited alumni who once active as the management of UNS Student Cooperative (Koperasi Mahasiswa – Kopma) as a speaker in 25th Wedangan online. Raising the topic of ‘The Role of Cooperative in Supporting the Economy amid the Covid-19 Pandemic’, this wedangan was held on Wednesday (1/10/2020). The event was also attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Central IKA UNS, Prof. Zudan Arif Fakrulloh and was opened by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum.
Learning from the history that Indonesia had a recession in past and MSMEs and Cooperatives played a significant role in recovering the Indonesian economy, this year it is expected that MSMEs and Cooperatives can boost the country economy to stay stable. “The current webinar is inspiring because Kopma UNS alumni milestones should give color and control Indonesian economy that keeps on declining due to Covid-19,” Prof. Jamal added.
Iskandar Zulkarnain, S.E., M.M (FEB 1982) who currently served as the Executive Board of Hajj Fund Management (Badan Pengelola Keuangan Haji – BPKH) delivered discussion opening on the milestones of Kopma in Indonesia, and Kopma UNS in particular. Further, the Deputy for Supervision of the Ministry of Cooperatives & Small and Medium Enterprises (Kemenkop & UKM), Ahmad Zabadi, S.H., M.M., (FH 1987) explained the opportunity and challenges faced by Cooperatives and SMEs in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic. The increase in the digital-based economic transaction is seen by Kemenkop & UKM as an opportunity for cooperative to implement the new method. On 10 October 2020, Kemenkop & UKM plans to launch cooperative go digital as a response to the changes in consumer behavior.
The event was also attended by the alumni of Kopma UNS from the Faculty of Medical Science (FK) 1981, dr. Mohammad Syahril Mansyur, Sp.P., MPH. as the President Director of RSPI Sulianti Sarosa, who shared the strategy from the health sector, which 3M and 3T. 3M consist of Mencuci tangan (wash your hands), Memakai Masker (wear a mask) and Menjaga Jarak (keep physical distance), while 3T is Tracing, Testing, and Treatment. The next topic on ‘Developing Excellent Human Resources to get through the Covid-19 Pandemic’ was delivered by Arifin Susanto, S.E., M.Sc. (FEB 1986) who currently serves as the Managing Director for Human Resources in the Financial Service Authority (OJK). Followed by Kaspiyah, S.H., M.M., (FH 1985) as the Executive Vice President (EVP) of BRI Semarang delivered a speech on ‘The Role of BRI in the economy amid the Pandemic’. In her material, Kaspiyah stated that she agrees with Arifin on the innovation that needs to be done by the banking industry in the future is conducting digitalization. This needs to be supported by consistency in educating the society so that they can adapt to the new condition.
“To teach the community takes time and energy. Thus, to introduce digital banking to the villages is not an easy task,” Kaspiyah stated.
Lastly, the discussion was closed with the material on ‘Cooperative Strategy amid the Pandemic: to Adapt or Die’ which was delivered by Dr. Agung Sujatmoko, S.Pd., M.M. (FKIP 1988) who currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dekopin). He stated that currently there are five pillars to strengthen people economy, in this context the cooperative, improving the capacity, strengthening capital, business, management, and regulation.
