UNS — Student of the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta succeeded in securing 3rd place in a national competition. Bayu Aji Prasetya is awarded as the third champion in the National Education Video Competition in Regional Potential, organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Politeknik Akademi Kimia Analisis (Academy for Analytics Chemistry Polytechnic-AKA) Bogor in November 2020.
The certain student who is usually called Bayu was born and grew up in Banjarnegara. In the competition, he tries to introduce his hometown region’s potential, especially in the tourism sector. “Banjarnegara has Dieng Plateau with equal tourism potential. I try to re-introduce this potential through a short video of 4 minutes in duration. In the video I introduce Arjuna Temple Complex, Sikidang Crater, and Tea Plantation,” Bayu explains during an interview with uns.ac.id, Wednesday (23/12/2020).
The competition was held virtually by uploading video to a Google Drive account, which was followed by an assessment by the juries. Announcement of the winner was conducted on Sunday (15/12/2020) during the Education Festival 2020 BEM of AKA Polytechnic, Bogor.
Before participating in the competition, Bayu is confused because at that time he was in Bondowoso, meanwhile, the competition is about his hometown. After thinking for a while he remembers that he still has several videos he took in January 2020. “I was confused because at that time I was in Bondowoso, but after thinking for a while, I remember that I have several videos on my laptop. Fortunately, every time I went somewhere I always took some videos, usually for an after movie or momento. After finding the right video I did editing starting from 10 PM and finished at 2 AM, it took quite some time,” Bayu explains.
When asked regarding his feeling when announced as the 3rd winner, he reveals that he was extremely happy. “Alhamdulillah, I am greatly happy to get the 3rd place, especially when remembering the process to find my video. If I did not have any video back then, it is impossible to join the competition,” Bayu reveals.
Bayu hopes that his achievement can motivate his fellow UNS students, especially his juniors in the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, to achieve more. “I hope this can inspire and motivate our junior and friends to have more achievement,” he concluded. Humas UNS
