UNS — Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) has become an important matter that needs continuous effort and dissemination to the community during this Covid-19 pandemic. In an effort to implement this, there are various creative methods and ideas available. One of the methods is PHBS education through a mural painting, which is conducted by the Student Community Service (KKN) Program from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta.
The mural was made in Terondol Village, Serang, Banten. Ten colorful, excellent, and refreshing murals illustrate ten PHBS activities on village fences. The activities depicted in the mural are clean water availability, washing hands using water and soap, physical exercises, and consuming fruits and vegetables. “We also paint the UNS logo and introduce Wiku as the mascot of UNS. Here Wiku is depicted as a person who invites the community to maintain health and environment condition,” reveals Devian as the Leader of the KKN Team, Tuesday (23/2/2021).
Parenting PHBS
Not only educating the community through visual art, but Devian and the team also organized ‘Parenting PHBS’ for the housewives. Through this program, in which dr. Fernita is attending as a speaker, the housewives are invited to always implement PHBS especially in their home to ensure that the children and all family members are healthy.
“The residents are mostly aware of the health protocols. However, sometimes they forgot the basic actions to maintain health condition,” Fira Wandira, one of the team members, added.
Other than the mentioned activities, the team Supervised by Mohammad Anwar, S.Pd., M.Pd., also organized a disinfectant spray and producing hand washing basin at several places, such as the Village office, mosque, PAUD BKB Kemas Iqra, and local Posyandu.
A positive response was given by the local community. “We are delighted, there are many activities that help us. PHBS education, disinfectant spraying, and provision of cleaning tools,” states Ida Farida, the Head of PAUD BK Kemas Iqra. Humas UNS
