Welcoming Ramadan, FK UNS Held Blood Donation

UNS — Faculty of Medical Science (FK) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a blood donation event in FK Joglo on Friday (9/4/2021). This event was held to commemorate UNS 45th Anniversary and to welcome Ramadan.

Vice-Dean for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs FK UNS, Dr. Selfi Handayani, dr., M.Kes., stated that Indonesia Red Cross (PMI) blood stock is usually depleted during Ramadan because of the decrease in the number of blood donors during the month. “Before Ramadan, we want to help PMI in increasing their stock, considering the number of donors will decrease during Ramadan. Therefore, FK UNS held a blood donor to facilitate UNS academic members who want to donate,” Dr. Selfi explained.

Dr. Selfi hopes that this event can be implemented continuously by FK UNS which started from a similar event in December 2020 in UNS Auditorium. “Alhamdulillah, UNS academic member’s response was outstanding,” she stated. This time, the blood donation event was opened by FK UNS Dean, Prof. Reviono, and the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho.
