UNS — Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a National Agricultural Seminar to commemorate UNS 45th Anniversary on Wednesday (28/4/2021). The seminar was held online through the Zoom Cloud Meeting Platform and Live Streamed through the YouTube channel. One hundred Deans of Agricultural Higher Education in Indonesia and the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), Erick Thohir, attended the seminar.
In his presentation as the keynote speaker, Erick Thohir stated that food resilience is one of the main pillars in building Golden Indonesia 2045, which encourages SOEs to prioritize this sector. On the other hand, Erick considers collaboration among institutions is indispensable to achieve the optimum result with high quality and competitiveness in food resilience, energy resilience, and health resilience. The collaboration can be implemented through synergy with Perum Bulog, BNI, UNS, and IKA UNS in achieving Indonesia’s food resilience. He added that similar synergy is also needed in Human Resources resilience.
“We believe that synergy with higher education will not only bring optimum result in creating high quality and competitive products in food resilience, energy resilience, and health resilience but also in supporting Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program in building young generation’s leading talents who are ready to enter the job market. This is Human Resource resilience,” he said.
The Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus appreciated the seminar and stated that this event is essential to build good synergy between higher education and industry in supporting the teaching and learning process. “Especially in involving 100 Deans of Agriculture Higher Education in Indonesia in building the synergy with industry, education, and business,” Prof. Yunus stated. He added that this effort would bring FP UNS academic members to go out from their shells, collaborate, and open themselves to the industry to create and market innovative products in agriculture.
The seminar on “Building Synergy between Higher Education and Agricultural Industry in Implementing Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program” invited five speakers, Wahyu Kuncoro (Perum Perhutani), Ir. Syafri Afriansyah (PT. Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, Tbk.), Vidia Paramita (PT. SMART), Dr. Jamhari (Sekjen FKPTPI), and Dr. Kusnandar (Ketua CDC UNS).
The seminar was attended by hundreds of participants who present their research or community service program from higher education, researchers, firms, and the general public interested in agriculture. There are 11 sub-themes in the seminar, including land and water resources, Human Resources and Institutions, livestock resources, socioeconomic agriculture, food security and resilience, plant and post-harvest production technology, pest management, forestry and ecotourism resources, biotechnology, community partnership program, and CSR, and agricultural MSME empowerment.
