UNS Invited Alumni to Contribute in Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Program

UNS — Since launched on 2020, the Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program slowly implemented by universities. It started with Kampus Mengajar, International Student Exchange, Entrepreneurship, and Certified Internship and Independent Study. All of these programs were promoted to facilitate and develop Indonesian students’ potential.

Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta as a Public University with Legal Entity (PTNBH) fully supports the program promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek). The university has made efforts to maximize MBKM programs’ implementation by expanding partnerships with representative institutions that could support UNS MBKM programs. This partnership is vital for the internship program in which UNS develop a partnership with firms and industries to develop their student’s potential. The alumni are also invited to contribute to the MBKM program.

This invitation was delivered by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M. Si., in Wedangan Ikatan Alumni (IKA) UNS series 68 on “FISIP UNS Alumni Entrepreneurship Stage”. The Wednesday Evening event was held online through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform.

Prof. Sajidan stated that the alumni could contribute and collaborate with the university in MBKM program. Alumni who have companies, for example, could provide opportunities for their juniors in UNS to expand their experiences in the alumni’s company. Prof. Sajidan explained that the President and the Minister of Kemdikbudristek encouraged educational institutions to implement Merdeka Belajar Program that will allow students to gain 20 credits (SKS) outside the university. Prof. Sajidan also stated that the university is proud to have successful alumni who patched their way up from below.

“Insha Allah, (you) will continue succeeding and blessed. I hope the alumni attending this event could provide opportunities for their juniors to have an internship in your companies. So, they could achieve their competencies and have real skills before entering the job,” Prof. Sajidan added in the event held on Wednesday (28/7/2021).

Prof. Sajidan also emphasized that the experiences shared in the Wedangan is very beneficial for students because it is a life lesson that they could not learn in the classroom. Supporting Prof. Sajidan, the Chairman of IKA UNS, Budi Harto, also stated that alumni’s experiences could grow student’s motivation to step further. “The last few series were in entrepreneurship, and today is increasingly interesting because it is from FISIP. Not everyone dares to walk in this field,” he stated—the President Director of PT. Hutama Karya added that the entrepreneurial field is not always linear with the subject students take in the university, and alumni’s experiences will encourage students to enter this field.

Four alumni were invited to this Wedangan IKA UNS to shared their entrepreneurial experiences. These alumni are: Kun Wahyu Winasis (Co-founder and CEO PT. KMB), Budi Nugroho (Founder Idea Coffee ID), Dr. dra. Wiwik Suyandartiwi A, MM. (Commissioner/Chairman STIKES Awal Bros), and Erna Paramita (Entrepreneur and Marketing Director PT. KRA). The event was also attended by the Chairman of IKA FISIP UNS, W. Pandapotan Rambe, M.Si., and the Dean of FISIP UNS, Prof. Ismi Dwi Astuti N, M.Si.
