UNS — Biotechnology and Biodiversity Research and Development (P3BB) LPPM Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta and the Faculty of Agriculture UNS held the 8th International Conference on Sustainable Agriculture and Environment (ICSAE-8), General Assembly, on Wednesday (25/8/2021). This event was held through the Zoom Cloud Meetings and broadcasted through the ICSAE Network YouTube channel is the main event of ICSAE-8.
Speakers from various countries attended the conference, including Prof. Dr. Herry Utomo (Louisiana State University, USA), Dr. Halis Simsek (Purdue University, USA), Prof. Taifo Mahmud (Oregon State University, USA), Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yunus (UNS, Indonesia), Rita Padawangi, Ph.D. (Singapore University of Social Sciences, Singapore), and Abidah B. Setyowati, Ph.D. (Delft University of Technology, Netherland).
Prof. Dr. Ir. Samanhudi, SP., M.Si., IPM., ASEAN Eng., as the Dean of FP UNS, in his opening remark, mentioned that this conference is supported by Indonesian Diaspora Network United (IDNU) and Indonesian Agronomy Association (Peragi). The Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNS also supported this event. On this occasion, Prof. Samanhudi also delivered his gratitude to all parties who had supported and participated in ICSAE-8.
“Through this conference, hopefully, the participants could develop a new perspective, we could build collaboration in the future. I also hope that all participants will be successful and enjoy this conference,” Prof. Samanhudi stated.
Attending to represent the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho; Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, also thanked the committee and participants for managing and participating in ICSAE-9. He also mentioned that ICSAE-8 is expected to be the leading conference for researchers, students, and professionals in agriculture and environmental issues. ICSAE is expected to help in identifying the ideas, practices, and policies in agricultural and environmental sustainability.
“Sustainability is the keyword in ensuring global food resilience and security, as well as improvement in human life quality. Sustainability concept in environmental management in the global level includes management of oceans, freshwater systems, land, atmosphere, and energy,” Prof. Yunus added.
Parallel Session
Before the general assembly, participants have participated in the parallel session and presented their research through video recording and posters through https://icsae.id/. There are 160 articles presented in the session, and the selected papers will be published in IOP EES indexed in Scopus. The Chief of P3BB LPPM UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Hartati, MP. Stated that ICSAE-8 provides a platform for researchers, academicians, and professionals in the agricultural field worldwide.
“The platform is a place to present their research and professional development in the agricultural, environmental, food, and other related fields, such as immune modulator to combat Covid-19,” Prof. Sri Hartati explained.
There are two types of presentation that viewers could find in https://icsae.id/. Poster presentation with three rooms on Room 1 – General Agriculture, Room 2 – Policy and Sustainable Development Goal in Agriculture and Environment, and Room 3 – Eco-Friendly Design. Then there is the video presentation with seven rooms General Agriculture, Environmental and Climate Change Related to Agriculture, Smart and Precision Farming and Eco-Friendly Design, Medicinal Herb Farming, Agriculture Economic Green Economic and Related to Economic Growth, Sustainable Development Goal in Agriculture and Environment, and Policy and Politics of Environment in Agriculture.
The presentation videos are also uploaded to the ICSAE Network YouTube. Several UNS academic members were participating in the conference. They shared their research, such as “The Role of Organic fertilizer from Natural Dye Waste and Mycorrhizal Inoculation on The Growth of Indigofera tinctoria L” by Maria Theresia Sri Budiastuti’s team and “Collaborative Governance in Solving Problem Air Pollution in Indonesia: A Systematic Literature Review” by Anna Feberina’s team.
