Bank Indonesia Launched Non-Cash Payment QRIS in UNS

UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta continue innovating to improve academic and non-academic services. One of the innovations conducted by UNS to provide better non-academic service is providing non-cash payment in the campus area. This non-cash payment is provided through the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) in several campus facilities.

The representative of Bank Indonesia (BI) Solo launched the QRIS usage in the UNS campus are on Thursday (26/8/2021) through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform. The launch was marked with symbolic scanning by UNS executive board and BI representatives. In the launching, the scanning was performed by BI Solo representative Nugroho Joko Prastowo and Vice-Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M. Si. The symbolic scanning was witnessed by the Deputy Chief Representative BI Solo, Gunawan Purbowo and Bimala, and Head of Ecosystem Expansion Center Unit LinkAja, Irfan Chair.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., is highly enthusiastic about the program. Prof. Jamal stated that non-cash payment is a certainty in the digital era. Thus, its presence in UNS proves that UNS participated and adapting to the development.

Further, Prof. Jamal hoped that QRIS could create an efficient and beneficial payment ecosystem. This system is also expected to ensure the security of the payment system.

“We hope that the cashless (payment) implemented in UNS could create a more effective and efficient payment system in the UNS campus and benefits UNS academic members,” Prof. Jamal stated.

The inevitability of digital payment is supported by the Chief of BI Solo Representative, Nugroho Joko Prastowo. According to Nugroho, QRIS is a form of digitalization that will be vital in the future. Therefore, Nugroho mengajak seluruh sivitas akademika UNS untuk memanfaatkan QRIS ini.

“We invite UNS academic community to act as the initiator of digitalization. In the future, digital products will be developed. Therefore, I hope academics in UNS to be the initiator in the community in starting cashless payment, especially through QRIS in the campus, around the campus, and surrounding areas,” Nugroho added.

The implementation of non-cash payment using QRIS will be implemented in several businesses in UNS, including the modular gas station in UNS, canteens, UNS Inn, UNS Library, UNS Medical Center, infaq and zakat in Nurul Huda Mosque UNS, and 11.3 unit in BPU UNS.
