UNS Received 100 Kompas.id Subscription From Djarum Foundation

UNS — The Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., symbolically received 100 Kompas.id subscription from the Director of Communication Djarum Foundation on Friday (27/8/2021). This event is an implementation of “Djarum Foundation Care for Quality Journalism with Kompas.id in 17 Public Universities from Sabang to Merauke”.

One hundred Kompas.id subscriptions are handed to the UNS students and faculty members for one year of access. The subscription process was conducted directly through the Zoom Cloud Meeting led by Dikdik as the Digital Marketing of Harian Kompas.

In his remark, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho mentioned the need to increase people’s interest in reading in Indonesia. Technology advancement has affected community activities, including the speed of information sharing. However, this advancement is often abused, and therefore, people need to be careful in using the technology. Prof. Jamal considers that digital literacy is essential to be conducted mainly for millennials. Therefore, he hoped that Kompas.id subscriptions from Djarum Foundation are expected to increase reading interest and writing productivity in UNS.

“I really hope, especially to the millennials students in UNS, to be a part of positive, creative, and innovative content,” Prof. Jamal Wiwoho stated.

The following remark from Mutiara Diah Asmara, the Director of Communication Djarum Foundation, mentioned a wish to create spirit, motivation, and inspiration from this activity. At a glance, Mutiara Diah Asmara also shared the Bakti Lingkungan Djarum Foundation journey established in 1979 and has planted more than 2.3 million trees. This achievement has the potential of a carbon sink of 3.9 million tons a year. The philosophy of “Born from inside and Develop with the Environment” is firmly held with a mission to develop Indonesia into a superpower country.

“Hopefully, this collaboration can be a self-reflection to build spirit, motivation, and inspiration in facing the great information flooding in this digital era,” Mutiara Diah Asmara hoped.

After the subscription process was completed, the ceremony was followed by a profile sharing session from Siap Darling Squad Peduli Lingkungan by Ira Ratnati from Djarum Foundation. The next schedule was Webinar Digital Literacy on “Information Flooding & Challenges to Face HOAX/Fake News” delivered by the Editor-in-Chief Harian Kompas, Sutta Dharmasaputra. At the end of this event, Septa Inigopatria, as the product development manager, delivered short materials on the ecosystem, features, and how to find information through Kompas.id. Humas UNS
