UNS Becomes First University of BPH Migas Goes To Campus

UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has become the pioneering university in the BPH Migas Goes to Campus initiative. The event took place in a hybrid format at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium and Zoom Cloud Meeting on Saturday (19/8/2023). The participants, mostly UNS students, gained knowledge through workshops and a public lecture.

The event was attended by the Head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), Erika Retnowati; the BPH Migas Committee, Iwan Prasetya Adhi; the Executive General Manager of the Central Java Region of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Aji Anom Purwasakti; and Sales and Operation Region 3 PT PGN Tbk., Widhi Nugroho.

The Acting Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Information UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho., S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., was present at the BPH Migas Goes to Campus event. He was accompanied by the directors and department heads within UNS. Several representatives from the UNS Alumni Family Association (IKA) were also in attendance.

Prof. Irwan expressed his hope that the collaboration between UNS and BPH Migas would not stop here. This is because the link and match between the campus and the industry need to be strengthened and sharpened. Therefore, dedicated programs are needed to bring the two closer together.

“There are many things we can collaborate on. Perhaps internships for students and practitioners to teach,” Prof. Irwan said.

According to Prof. Irwan, the campus needs to maintain relevance in both education and research according to the needs of the industrial world. Research collaboration is also considered a crucial step in updating knowledge in specific fields.

Erika Retnowati explained that BPH Migas regularly collaborates with various parties to fulfill its duties and functions, including the academic world. Inputs from academics are considered by BPH Migas in making decisions.

“We collaborate extensively with universities, especially in conducting studies for policy considerations,” Erika said.

The BPH Migas Goes to Campus event was divided into two sessions. The first session was a social media workshop with Cut Vivia Thalita. The second session, which was the main event, was a public lecture entitled “A to Z about Downstream Oil and Gas”. The public lecture was led by Dr. Suryanto, who is also the Head of the Environmental Research Center UNS.

The BPH Migas public lecture featured several competent speakers, including BPH Migas Committee, Iwan Prasetya Adhi; Executive General Manager of the Central Java Region of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Aji Anom Purwasakti; and Sales and Operation Region 3 PT PGN Tbk., Widhi Nugroho.

In general, BPH Migas is an agency formed to regulate and oversee the supply and distribution of fuel oil and natural gas, as well as the transportation of natural gas through pipelines in downstream activities. The main function of BPH Migas is to oversee the implementation of the supply and distribution of fuel oil and the transportation of natural gas through pipelines within a regulatory framework. This is to ensure the availability and distribution of fuel oil set by the government throughout Indonesia, as well as to increase the utilization of domestic natural gas.
