Three Gaza Students at UNS Receive Campus Attention

UNS – The conflict and warfare in Palestine continue to unfold, impacting Palestinian students studying abroad. At Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) in Surakarta, there are three graduate students from Gaza facing these challenges.

In an interview with uns.ac.id, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., the Rector of UNS, mentioned that he has met with the three students. The war has resulted in the loss of their family members, and some have become displaced. The latest information reveals that they are no longer able to contact their families in Gaza.

The university has responded to this situation by organizing “UNS Peduli” (or UNS Cares), an initiative aimed at assisting in fulfilling the daily needs of these Gaza-born UNS students. The funds collected will be handed over to them as a gesture of solidarity from the larger UNS family.

“We have something called UNS Peduli, (an action) caring for humanity. I have conveyed this to colleagues. Later, we will hand it over through these three students,” Prof. Jamal said.

UNS Peduli is a social action in response to the crisis conditions experienced by society. Prof. Jamal urged that this action be considered a field of social righteousness at UNS. He is confident that, with the support of the academic community at UNS, this program will run smoothly.
