UNS – Six candidates have registered as prospective candidates for the position of Rector at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) for the 2024-2029 period. The candidates are Prof. Dr. Sunny Ummul Firdaus, S.H., M.H. from the Faculty of Law (FH); Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si. from the Faculty of Medicine (FK); Prof. Dr. Fitria Rahmawati, S.Si, M.Si. from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA); Prof. Dr. Ir. Cucuk Nur Rosyidi, S.T., M.T. from the Faculty of Engineering (FT); Prof. Dr. E. Muhtar, S.Pd., M.Si., CFrA. from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP); and Prof. Dr. Warsito, S.Si, DEA, Ph.D. from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (PMK) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI).
The Chairman of the UNS Rector Election Committee (PPR), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jamin, S.H., M.Hum., announced that registration for prospective Rector candidates was open from May 2 to May 28, 2024. “From the first day until the closing on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM WIB, we received six registrations for the UNS Rector position for the 2024-2029 period. According to UNS Board of Trustees Regulation (PMWA) No. 1 of 2024 on the Procedures for the Election of the UNS Rector, PPR did not extend the registration period as the minimum requirement of five candidates was met,” Prof. Jamin explained on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
The next step for PPR UNS involves administrative and factual verification of the requirements for the prospective candidates, which will take place from June 12 to June 23, 2024. The list of candidates who pass the verification process will be finalized by the UNS Board of Trustees on June 25, 2024.
Subsequent steps include receiving input from the UNS campus community from June 25 to July 2, 2024, followed by a public forum conducted by a panel on July 2, 2024. On July 9, 2024, the UNS Board of Trustees will determine and announce the three final candidates for the Rector position for the 2024-2029 period.
The candidates will present their vision, mission, and work programs on July 18, 2024. On the same day, the election of the UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 period will be conducted by the UNS Board of Trustees during a plenary meeting. The newly elected Rector will be announced and informed immediately after the meeting.
The process will culminate in the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony of the elected UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 period on August 8, 2024. “We express our gratitude for the participation of all parties and seek support to ensure a smooth election process,” Prof. Jamin concluded. HUMAS UNS
