UNS – Lecturers from the Sociology Study Program at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta attended The 6th International Conference on Social and Political Science (ICSPS), organized by FISIP Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This international conference was held over three days, from Wednesday, May 15, 2024, to Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Professor Bachtiar Effendy Auditorium, FISIP UIN Jakarta.
The delegation from UNS included Dr. Argyo Demartoto, M.Si., Dr. Ahmad Zuber, S.Sos., D.E.A., Dr. Yuyun Sunesti, G.D.Soc., M.A., Dra. Sri Hilmi Pujihartati, M.Si., and Dr. Siti Zunariyah, S.Sos., M.Si. The conference’s theme was “Pursuing Sustainable and Inclusive Development Through Global Collaboration.”
This main theme was divided into 12 sub-themes, including Political Development and Digital Democracy; International Relations and Complex Development Challenges; Religion and Social Movements in Sustainable and Inclusive Development; Economic Marginalization and Exclusion in Development; Cultural and Environmental Issues in Development; Gender and Inclusive Development; Educational Issues in Development; Health Programs and Any Health Issues in Development; Issues of Science and Technology for Development; Law Enforcement and Development; Social Media, Communication, and Sustainable Development; and Mental Health Problems and Development.

The event featured several keynote speakers, including Prof. Adam Possamai from Western Sydney University, Australia; Dr. Melissa Curley from the University of Queensland, Australia; Prof. Ida Widianingsih, M.A., Ph.D., from Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad); Prof. IIm Halimatusa’diyah, M.A., Ph.D. from UIN Jakarta; and Dr. Muhammad Najib Azca, M.A., a representative of the Supervisory Board of the Indonesian Sociology Study Program Association (APSSI). The conference was moderated by Faisal Nurdin Idris, M.Sc. Ph.D.
Lecturers from various universities in Indonesia attended the conference to discuss their previously submitted academic works. One of the scheduled activities included paper presentation sessions.
“Sociology lecturers submitted several works that were included in Group 3 under the sub-theme Gender and Political Development, Group 11 under the sub-theme Cultural and Environmental Issues in Development, Group 12 under the same sub-theme, and Group 17 under the sub-theme Mental Health and Education Program in Development,” Dr. Argyo explained.
Presentations were made by Dr. Siti Zunariyah, S.Sos., with an article titled “Literature Review on River Restoration in the Perspective of Social Movements,” Dra. Sri Hilmi Pujihartati with an article titled “Capability Set and Environmental Agency in Kampung Harmoni: A Sociological Inquiry,” Dr. Yuyun Sunesti, G.D.Soc. with an article titled “Religious Women’s Organization-Based Environmental Conservation Movement: Contributions of Muslimat NU and Aisiyah Muhammadiyah to Grassroots Environmental Awareness,” Dr. Ahmad Zuber, S.Sos. with an article titled “The Existence of Campursari Music Javanese Culture in the Globalization Era,” and Dr. Argyo Demartoto, M.Si, with an article titled “Social Capital-Based Mobile Voluntary Counseling and Testing in the Community with Risk of Being Infected with HIV and AIDS in Surakarta, Indonesia.”
