BEM UNS Distributed 276 Masks Commemorating Surakarta Anniversary

UNS — On February 17th, Surakarta City is 276 years old. Commemorating this anniversary, the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta conducted a symbolic event by sharing 276 masks for people in the city. The event was held on Wednesday (24/2/2021).

The 276 masks were distributed in three locations, Bundaran Gladak, in front of the Mayor’s Office, and traffic light in front of UNS. The masks were purchased from BEM UNS funds. Hafizhah Melania, as Minister of Urban Community Analysis and Development BEM UNS, hopes that this event will serve as a collective reflection that amid the 276th anniversary and the rapid advancement of the city, some issues still lingers.

“Behind the rapid and physical development of the city such as the infrastructure, (we need to realize that) the right for the city is not well shared among all walks of life, such as the right for legal protection, and land ownership,” Hafizhah, a student from Early Childhood Education Program (PG PAUD) UNS, said.

BEM UNS hopes that Surakarta can be a compass for strategic issues in various fields, especially after being selected as the Best Livable and Comfortable City in Indonesia by the Indonesian Planning Expert Association (Ikatan Ahli Perencanaan Indonesia – IAPI).  Humas UNS
