Faculty of Medicine UNS Signs Cooperation Agreement with PT Sido Muncul

UNSThe Faculty of Medicine (FK) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has officially signed a cooperation agreement with PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk. The signing event coincided with a national seminar themed “Pengembangan dan Pemanfaatan Obat Tradisional untuk Mendukung Gerakan Indonesia Sehat” (Development and Utilization of Traditional Medicines to Support Indonesia’s Health Movement), held on Wednesday (18/9/2024). The event took place in a hybrid format at the UNS Faculty of Medicine Auditorium and was broadcast via Zoom and YouTube.

Dr. Leli Saptawati, dr., Sp.MK(K), the event chairperson, explained that the seminar was a collaboration between the UNS Faculty of Medicine, PT Sido Muncul, Indonesia’s Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), and the Surakarta Regional Mental Hospital (RSJD). The seminar also served as an implementation of a previous memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PT Sido Muncul and UNS.

“This event brings together experts from various fields. There are 240 in-person participants and 344 virtual participants, totaling 584 attendees. We hope this seminar contributes to scientific development and promotes the health of the Indonesian people,” dr. Leli said.

The Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K), expressed his pride in the partnership between FK UNS and PT Sido Muncul. He emphasized the importance of connecting education, particularly in pharmaceuticals, with industry.

Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation, Internationalization, and Information at UNS, shared that UNS had signed an MoU with PT Sido Muncul in 2023. The cooperation has since been implemented through joint events, collaborative research, and internship opportunities for students at PT Sido Muncul. Prof. Irwan hoped that such agreements would expand to other relevant faculties.

“Collaboration with industry is a key achievement of Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 6, which is crucial and a top priority. We are grateful to PT Sido Muncul for following up on the MoU with a more detailed cooperation agreement. Hopefully, this partnership will continue to thrive and expand to other faculties,” Prof. Irwan said in his remarks.

The first session of the seminar was moderated by dr. Nanang Wiyono, M.Kes., and featured presentations from Dra. Reri Indriani, Apt., M.Si., Deputy for the Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics at BPOM RI; Dita Novianti Sugandi Argadiredja, S.Si., Apt., M.M., Director of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution at the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes RI); and Irwan Hidayat, Director of PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk.

The second session, moderated by Dr. Leli Saptawati, dr., Sp.MK(K), featured speakers including Dr. dr. Neni Susilaningsih, M.Si., lecturer at Universitas Diponegoro (Undip); Dr. apt. Ipang Djunarko, S.Si, M.Sc, representative of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI) of Yogyakarta; and Dr. Setyo Sri Rahardjo, dr., M.Kes., lecturer at FK UNS.
