UNS – A good news came from the Fine Art Education Study Program, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, due to one of its students, Alif Sholihin, has successfully won the first champion in the National Poster Design Championship organized by the Student and Alumni Affairs Bureau of the Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), Yogyakarta.
The championship with a theme ‘Ramadhan Positive Campaign During COVID-19 Pandemic’ was held on April 27th until May 14th, 2020, through online. After going through the assessment stages on May 15-20, 2020, the result was announced through the website bimawa.uad.ac.id on May 21st, 2020.
The poster created by Alif coveys a message for the society to adapt to the new normal that will be implemented by the government.
“Considering our condition, we are recommended to adapt to the new normal, one of them is to keep physical distance and wearing a mask. Thus, I apply this message into a normal object as if we, inevitably, have to accept the new normal state. The object chosen is the Rp 100,000 Rupiah denomination that contains the picture of the Indonesian Independence Proclaimers, then, I made an edit to add some distance on between the pictures and also make it wears a mask,” he said, during an interview with uns.ac.id on Wednesday (27/5/2020).
The student, who currently is in his 8th semester, is happy when knowing that he won first place in the poster design competition.
“Alhamdulillah, obviously, I am happy because my effort to keep up the good work in the midst of pandemic and earn some money to pay the next semester’s Tuition Fee (UKT) has yielded encouraging results,” he said.
Since the COIVD-19 pandemic hit Indonesia, Alif does often take part in poster design competitions. The results are not disappointing, in May, he had successfully won 4 titles at the national poster design championship. The titles he won among others are First place champion in Education Poster Competition From Home 2020 organized by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), First place champion in Poster Design of Student Association in Publishing Graphic Engineering, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, Second place champion in Post Coronavirus (COVID-19) Anticipation Poster organized by UPN Veteran Jakarta, and First place champion in National Poster Design: Ramadhan Positive Campaign During COVID-19 Pandemic, UAD Yogyakarta.
He hopes that UNS students can show their achievement and be productive in the midst of a pandemic.
“Hopefully, this pandemic will end soon and our fellow UNS students can adapt to this condition, thus even during the pandemic we can still achieve, be productive, and be useful,” Alif concluded.
Alif proves that the condition that requires us to stay home does not stop him to reach his achievement and be productive. Hopefully, his achievement can motivate UNS students to keep their pursuing their achievements. Humas UNS/Bayu
