FSRD UNS Hosts General Lecture Featuring Lecturer from Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, RMUTR, Thailand

UNS — The Faculty of Arts and Design (FSRD) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a general lecture entitled “Visual Culture Development Concerning Thailand’s Creative Economy” on Wednesday (25/10/2023). The lecture, held in the Hall of the H.B. Sutopo building, featured a speaker from Thailand, Khwanrat Chinda, Ph.D., who is a lecturer from the Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, Thailand.

Dr. Deny Tri Ardianto, S.Sn., Dipl.Art., Vice Dean for Academic, Research and Student Affairs FSRD UNS, represented the FSRD leadership and acted as the moderator for this general lecture. He expressed his gratitude to  Khwanrat Chinda for coming to Indonesia to share knowledge with students during this general lecture at FSRD UNS.

 “Thank you and welcome to Indonesia, Mrs. Khwanrat Chinda. I hope you enjoy being in the city of Solo for these few days,” Dr. Deny said.

Dr. Deny also provided an overview of Khwanrat Chinda’s profile. In addition to being a lecturer at the Poh-Chang Academy of Arts, Thailand, Khwanrat specializes in the fields of Environment Behavior, Jewelry design, Art creation, Packaging Design, and Design Research: Quantitative Research and Art and Creative Research.

In presenting her material on the topic “Visual Culture Development Concerning Thailand’s Creative Economy“, Khwanrat provided a general overview of the context of visual cultural design in Thailand and its relationship with Thailand’s creative economy.

 “The past 10 years of academia have seen the establishment of Visual Culture, Material Culture and, most recently, Design Culture as scholarly disciplines. Tangible, or visible, describes the characteristics of that body as a whole. Applied to an architectural construction or artistic creation,” Khwanrat explained.

As Thailand’s creative economy or cultural industry is influenced by various aspects, including cultural heritage, performing and visual art, media, design and creativity, Khwanrat also presented various examples of art and design from Thailand.

Around 150 students who attended the lecture in the H.B.. Sutopo Building Hall FSRD UNS were enthusiastic to participate in the general lecture provided by Khwanrat. Following the presentation, there was an interactive question-and-answer session between the participants and the speaker. HUMAS UNS
