UNS — The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta signed a Cooperation Agreement with the Center for Special Issues Policy Strategy and Data Analysis (IKAD), a part of the Foreign Policy Strategic Agency (BSKLN) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wednesday (18/10/2023). The signing of the cooperation agreement between FMIPA UNS and the Center for Policy Strategy IKAD BSKLN took place offline in Meeting Room 2, dr. Prakosa building, UNS. The event also featured a public lecture titled “Indonesian Diplomacy: Achievements, Opportunities, and Challenges”.
The cooperation agreement was signed by the Dean of FMIPA UNS, Drs. Harjana, M.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Head of the SKIKAD BSKLN Center, Edi Suharto. The event was attended by the Vice Rector, Deans, Directors, and Heads of Institutions within UNS. Edi Suharto was accompanied by the Head of BSKLN, Dr. Yayan Ganda Hayat Mulyana.
The purpose of the cooperation agreement between FMIPA UNS and the Center for Policy Strategy IKAD BSKLN is to meet the needs and derive benefits for both parties in order to enhance and develop capacities in the field of data science. Furthermore, it includes the provision of soft skills training by the Center for Policy Strategy IKAD BSKLN for FMIPA students. Collaborative research and community service in the field of data science, in accordance with mutual needs and agreements, are also part of the agreement. This cooperation agreement is valid for a period of three years from the date of signing by both parties.


The signing of this cooperation agreement was part of a series of events for which UNS and BSKLN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). In his address, Prof. Jamal, the university leader, expressed his pride at the presence of BSKLN in front of the UNS academic community. This is due to their efforts in successfully implementing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). UNS has made efforts to engage professionals in providing understanding, knowledge, and practice beyond the campus. Prof. Jamal is confident that this step will make students happy. The presence of BSKLN can provide a new way for their learning and experiences.
“I’m confident that the students are very enthusiastic, and lecturers are also pleased, especially with our efforts to succeed the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program. This is to ensure that the campus is not only adorned by academicians but remains lively and in line with existing dynamics and policies,” Prof. Jamal said.
Following the signing, Dr. Yayan delivered a public lecture entitled “Indonesian Diplomacy: Achievements, Opportunities, and Challenges”. This session was moderated by Dr. Ign. Agung Satyawan, S.Ikom., M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer in the International Relations Study Program (Prodi) FISIP UNS. This public lecture provided UNS students with insights into Indonesia’s current diplomatic situation. HUMAS UNS
