UNS — The Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta officially signed a Letter of Collaboration (LoC) with the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Universidad de Panama Centro Regional Universitario de Azuero (CRUA), Wednesday (19/5/2021), at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Panama City.
The LoC manuscript was signed separately, where the representative from the CRUA signs the LoC earlier witnessed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (Dubes LBBP) of the Republic of Indonesia for the Republic of Panama, Sukmo Harsono. The signatory ceremony was attended by the Director of CRUA, Leonardo Collado Trejos, alongside the Coordinator for the Faculty of Architecture and Design CRUA, Tomas Correa.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FT UNS, Dr. Techn. Ir. Sholihin As’ad along with the Head of Master Program in Architecture FT UNS (Dr. Ars. Avi Marlina), Head of Bachelor in Architecture Study Program FT UNS (Dr. Untung J. Cahyono), the Head of URDC Laboratory (Dr. Eng Kusumaningdyah N. H), and representative of lecturers in the Master Program in Architecture FT UNS (Dr. Hardiyati) were attending the event through the Zoom Cloud Meeting.
Both parties agreed to formalize the collaboration through the LoC. The initial draft of the LoC was submitted by UNS and then agreed upon by CRUA for a duration of five years. The terms agreed between the two parties include the guest lecture program, lecture material exchange, research, publication, and research project collaboration.
According to the Dean of FT UNS, Dr. Techn. Ir. Sholihin As’ad, regarding the collaboration, his party is working hard to implement and strengthen the collaboration with CRUA with the support from the KBRI in Panama City. “Panama can be our starting point to reach other countries in Central America and Latin America,” he reveals. Further, he hopes that with the current Indonesian economic condition with many similarities with Panama, both parties can share knowledge and experiences according to their field of expertise to solve the emerging problems.
This collaboration between FT UNS and CRUA is a follow-up to the support provided by the KBRI in Panama City since last December 2020. Sukmo Harsono states that the assessment for collaboration was done virtually. He further reveals his hope for the development of collaboration in the future. “This collaboration is special because it marks the first collaboration signed since I took office as the Indonesian Ambassador to Panama at the end of 2020. I hope with this collaboration there will be mutual visits from the Panamanian side to Indonesia and vice versa, as well as other activities that can improve people-to-people contact,” Sukmo Harsono reveals.
This signatory shows the seriousness between the two parties. Prior to the signatory, both parties have collaborated in several virtual events, including a Guest Lecture on 15 April 2021 by the Lecturer from the Faculty of Architecture and Design at CRUA, Tomas Correa, and on 28 April 2021 by FT UNS Lecturer Dr. Eng. Kusumaningdyah Nurul. Humas UNS
