UNS –– Student Activity Unit (UKM) Volleyball Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta organized the Volleyball Championship Toward the 2021 Competition, entitled “Showcasing the Talent and Spirit of the Young Generation in Volleyball during the Pandemic,” Sunday (23/5/2021), in GOR UNS. The championship covers both female and male numbers from four faculties in UNS and becomes the first Volleyball championship after a year of vacuum due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For the male number, there are teams from Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Physical Education, Health and Recreation (Penjaskesrek) class of 2017 A, Penjaskesrek class of 2017 B, Penjaskesrek class of 2017 C, Penjaskesrek class of 2018, Penjaskesrek class of 2019, Penjaskesrek class of 2020, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) A, FEB B, Sports Coaching Education Program (Penkepor) class of 2017, Penkepor class of 2019, and Faculty of Agriculture (FP). While for the female number, there are FKIP team, FKOR, FEB, and Penjaskesrek class of 2017.
The Coach of UNS Volleyball, Dr. Deddy Whinata Kardiyanto states that this championship is an event for UNS to recruit talented students to be included in the UNS volleyball team this year. He added that the participants would be directly monitored, and all selected students will be included in the UNS Volleyball team for preparing the National Student Sports Week (Pomnas) and the Provincial Level Sports Week scheduled for this year.
”This championship is not only for competing among the students. However, all the participating students should play the best they can to reach the best result possible and fill the empty spot in UNS Volleyball Team,” Dr. Deddy explains.
Adding to Dr. Deddy’s explanations, the Captain of UNS Volleyball, Sigit Nugroho, states that his party encourages students to compete as a tough and intellectual generation with a high sportsmanship spirit. “We want to introduce UNS as a World Class University and strengthen Sillaturahmi among the UNS students within this championship,” Sigit Nugroho reveals.
Specifically, Sigit hopes that during the championship, all students must comply with the Health Protocol (Prokes) with great discipline and compete competitively. “This championship was conducted without live spectators following the requirements from the university and Surakarta City government. We always comply with the health protocol and striving to regenerate the UNS Volleyball Team to continue the achievement,” he concluded. Humas UNS
