UNS The Faculty of Engineering (FT) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta officially inaugurated 19 new engineers. The graduates were from the Professional Engineer Program (PSPPI). The ceremony took place at the Main Seminar Room of Ir. RPM. Kasifudin Building, FT UNS on Saturday (19/4/2025).

FT UNS continues its efforts to produce professional engineers. These engineers are ready to drive national development with innovation, integrity, and professionalism.

Key academic and engineering leaders led the event and showed strong support for the graduates. Prof. Dr. Ir. Wahyudi Sutopo, the Dean of FT UNS, attended the ceremony. Prof. Dr. Eko Surojo, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, also participated in the event. Dr. Pringgo Widyo Laksono, Head of PSPPI, joined and congratulated the graduates.

Representatives from the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) joined to support the engineering profession. Dr. Herry Ludiro Wahyuno and Dr. Izhari Mawardi represented the national PII leadership. Graduates’ families came to celebrate and witness this important milestone.

Academic Excellence and Strong Commitment Mark the 2025 Cohort

The 19 engineers graduated through both regular and recognition pathways. Impressively, the average GPA reached 3.63. Moreover, three graduates from the regular track achieved a perfect GPA of 4.00, highlighting their dedication and academic excellence.

In his remarks, Dr. Pringgo Widyo Laksono expressed his pride in the graduates’ accomplishments. “This achievement reflects our engineers’ strong commitment to completing the program. We hope they will soon make tangible contributions to society and the nation,” he said, as quoted from ft.uns.ac.id on Tuesday (22/4/2025).

Furthermore, Prof. Wahyudi Sutopo congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to continue their professional journey. He urged them to join PII and strive for higher engineering certification levels, including IPP, IPM, and IPU.

“Engineers must lead the nation’s progress. Let’s implement the Engineering Law and realize engineers’ contributions to national development,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Dr. Herry Ludiro Wahyuno, Chairperson of PII Central Java Region, led the professional oath-taking. He reminded attendees that the engineering profession requires high standards of ethics and integrity. He also stressed that obtaining the Engineer Registration Certificate (STRI) is both a legal mandate and a moral responsibility.

Upholding Ethics and Professionalism in the Era of Society 5.0

Dr. Izhari Mawardi, Deputy General Treasurer of PII, delivered a keynote presentation. He delivered a keynote titled “The Engineering Profession in the Era of Society 5.0.” He underlined the importance of adaptability and innovation in this digital age, while upholding social responsibility and professional ethics.

In addition, graduate representative Farid Ahmadi, S.T., M.T., delivered a heartfelt speech. He encouraged his fellow engineers to embrace ethics and commitment in building the nation.

“This country needs engineers and technocrats who lead with values and character. It’s our time to prove that Indonesian engineers are ready to meet today’s challenges,” he said.

This inauguration underscores the role of FT UNS in producing competent and ethical engineers. The Professional Engineer Program (PSPPI) continues to grow at FT UNS. The university remains committed to developing excellent human resources ready to lead innovation and advance the nation’s engineering profession.
