UNS – Students from the Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta achieved a remarkable feat. Just recently, five students from the Urban and Regional Planning (PWK) Study Program won the Best Studio Planning Award 2023. They are Ahmad Fariski, Elza Henvita Putri, Meisyari Luthfia, Muhammad Nabiel Ilman Nafian, and M. Basyith Agung.

The competition was organized by the Indonesian Planning Schools Association (ASPI) on 14-15 September 2023, in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. There were 75 participants, consisting of 38 participants in the general plan category and 37 participants in the detailed plan category. Four finalists were selected from each category.

As quoted from ft.uns.ac.id, Wednesday (4/10/2023), Ahmad Fariski explained that in this competition, they presented a project entitled “Madegondo Transit Resilient Settlement”.

“We introduced the concept of adaptive, resilient, and attractive settlement planning with the development of transit areas to meet housing needs from 2024 to 2029. This work is the result of a settlement planning studio that was carried out for one semester, driven by the high demand for housing in the city of Surakarta, necessitating settlement planning in the Peri Urban Region (WPU) of Surakarta,” he elaborated.

For this project, they conducted their study in Madegondo Village, Grogol District, Sukoharjo Regency. During the course of their work, they were guided by Hakimatul Mukaromah, S.T., M.T.; Dr. Murtanti Jani Rahayu, M.T.; R. Chrisna Trie Hadi Permana, M.Sc., M.E., Ph.D.; and Lintang Suminar, S.T., M. URP.

Upon hearing that they had received the Honorable Mention Award, Ahmad Fariski expressed his great joy and pride.

Alhamdulillah, we are delighted and proud to represent PWK UNS in the Best Studio Planning Award 2023. We are very grateful to the lecturers who have always guided us and our Madegondo Team friends who have always been supportive,” he exclaimed.

These seventh-semester students hope that the PWK UNS delegation can win first place next year. “This competition has provided us with a lot of experience, especially in terms of areas that need improvement. Hopefully, we can do even better next year,” he concluded. HUMAS UNS
