UNS — Many scholarship offers are available for Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students. Beasiswa Aktivis Nusantara (Bakti Nusa) (National Activist Scholarship) is one of the offers. This scholarship is offered on more than 14 campuses in Indonesia and is offered to semester four students by a philanthropic institution, Dompet Dhuafa Pendidikan. Last year, five UNS students won this scholarship.
“Bakti Nusa is a scholarship program offered to campus activists who are developing themselves for their future and focusing on achieving their dreams,” Sadam Ulfin, Medicine Education student of 2016 and Bakti Nusa awardee, explained on Monday (7/6/2021).
This year, the scholarship will open registration on September 2021. Applicants are required to prepare several documents, such as registration form with identity, statement of data reliability, student ID card, and English certificate (TOEFL, IELTS). Students are also asked to prepare supporting documents, including their transcript, family data, organizational experience, publication, experience as a speaker, life proposal for the next five years, and project portfolio. Applicants are required to prepare an essay on a predetermined topic and submit a recommendation letter.
Bakti Nusa offers four main focuses in the scholarship offers, academics, professionals, entrepreneurs, and politicians. Sadam reminded the applicants to actively prepare their future by participating in various campus activities that support their plans. He encouraged applicants to prepare a clear life plan to benefit society in a field of expertise and decide who they want to be in 20 years. “Build branding according to what you want and achieve your dreams following the paths you planned,” he added.
Bakti Nusa is offered in UNS since 2012 and provides various benefits for students. Awardees have the opportunity to consult about their life plan, build networking with national wide awardees, and meet with national leaders, building relations with Youlead, and participating in leadership Bootcamp. Awardees also have access to the leadership development program, national leadership training, training from senior activists, humanity internship, leadership appreciation, and joint book publishing.
Sadam added that applicants should prepare strong intention in applying as awardees will be funded with zakat funds collected by Dompet Dhuafa. He also stated that those with weak intentions could be easily noticed during the long and effortful selection process. He said that he is thankful to win the scholarship and to be able to meet people with a similar vision in building Indonesia. He also met awardees from the older to those younger than him.
Before concluding the interview, Sadam reminded the applicants to prepare the essay, all required documents, recommendations, and intentions. “Do not aim to be big because of Bakti Nusa, but participate in building Indonesia with Bakti Nusa,” Sadam said. Bakti Nusa focuses on the development of activists who are ready to benefit society. Students from BEM, scientific clubs, and those who actively participated in competitions were often selected. The awardees are encouraged to build a project that benefits society and is focused on their life milestone. Humas UNS
