UNS — The student of International Relations Program (HI) Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won the Best Position Paper Parahyangan Model United Nations (MUN) 2021, Sunday (28/2/2021).
The excellent student is Rafli Zahran. In MUN held on 26 – 28 February, Rafli Zahran is the only student from UNS that participated in the event and successfully won over other participants from other universities such as Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) Semarang, Universitas Katolik Parahyangan (Unpar), Universitas Paramadina, Universitas Airlangga (Unair) Surabaya, and Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (Unjani).
“Parahyangan Model United Nations 2021 was held by International Relations Program students’ association Universitas Katolik Parahyangan through Zoom,” Rafli Zahran said.
Contacted on Tuesday (2/3/2021), Rafli Zahran shared a story on his preparation to participate in MUN this year. Long before the competition, he has studied the topics that might be discussed in the competition.
With the council topic “Combating the Existence of Lord’s Resistance Army”, he needs to come out with the way for United Nations (UN) members to combat the Lord’s Resistance Army terrorist group activities in Central Africa.
“At the time (in the competition), I was placed as Ghana. To be eloquent in MUN, I need a long time for in-depth research. I also need to manage my time to balance my activities with the research for MUN,” he added.
With his excellent achievement, Rafli Zahran said that he is grateful and hopes to win other competitions in the future. “My hope after this victory is to participate in other MUN competitions. Because I hope that this victory will become a stepping stone for me to participate in other MUN competitions in the near future,” he concluded. Humas UNS
