UNS – The Internship Unit and Career Development Center (CDC) of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an Industry Lecture on Wednesday (6/12/2023). The Industry Lecture, held at the HB. Sutopo FSRD UNS Building’s Auditorium, aims to connect with industry partners to explore internship and career opportunities for students.
The Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Student Affairs of FSRD UNS, Dr. Deny Tri Ardianto, S.Sn., Dipl. Art., also attended the event. Dr. Deny welcomed the Industry Lecture, stating, “We hope that this industry lecture brings benefits to all of us, at least broadening the horizons for students and fellow lecturers on the current developments in the industry. With the presence of these two industrial companies, it is hoped that collaboration can be established, and in the future, they can work together. For example, students can intern at both of these companies,” Dr. Deny said.
The Industry Lecture featured two speakers from different industrial companies. The first speaker was Natalia from Goodrich Indonesia. In her presentation, Natalia explained the history of the establishment of Goodrich Indonesia. Goodrich was first founded in Singapore in 1983 and has been established in Indonesia since 1991.
Natalia also explained the products produced by Goodrich. “Goodrich’s products include wall coverings, carpets, fabrics, and flooring. Each of these products has different types and functions. For example, carpet products serve to replace damaged or dirty parts, easy to store, have easy mobility, and can be adjusted according to taste,” Natalia said.
Goodrich’s products have been used in various places, including The PakuBuwono Apartment, Raffles Hotel, Intercontinental Resort, Hotel Tentrem, and many other companies that use Goodrich’s products. In addition, Natalia also presented examples of Goodrich’s products to the attending students.
Meanwhile, the second speaker was Thumasto, S.E., M.Comm. from Onna Ventura. Thumasto also presented various products produced by the Onna industry, including blinds, curtains, mosquito nets, partitions, and wallpapers. Like Natalia, Thumasto also explained the process of making products produced by Onna. The Industry Lecture was attended by students from the Craft Art Study Program, Interior Design Study Program, as well as representatives of students from the Visual Communication Design Study Program and the Arts Study Program.
The Head of the Internship Management Unit and CDC FSRD UNS, Dyah Yuni Kurniawati, S.Sn., M.Sn., and the Coordinator of Internships and Field Work, M. Rudianto, S.E., S.Sn., M.Sn. FSRD UNS also expressed hope that this industry lecture would provide insights into career opportunities in the industry for students after completing their higher education. Humas UNS
