UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has received the Campus League Badminton 2026 trophy following its badminton team’s historic first national championship in the prestigious inter-university sporting competition. The trophy presentation ceremony took place at the Lobby of the dr. Prakosa Building, UNS Central Administration Office, Surakarta, on Monday (November 2, 2026).
The Campus League management team was welcomed by UNS Rector Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., accompanied by the Vice Rectors, as well as the Dean and Vice Deans of the Faculty of Sports (FKOR) UNS. In his remarks, UNS Rector Prof. Dr. Hartono expressed his appreciation for Campus League’s initiative, which goes beyond organizing tournaments by successfully fostering a professional, structured, and competitive environment for student athletes. This ecosystem is considered essential to nurturing young athletic talent within higher education institutions.
“UNS is fully committed to supporting student achievement in both academic and non-academic fields. In this regard, FKOR UNS plays a strategic role and consistently makes meaningful contributions to the university’s sporting achievements and reputation,” Prof. Hartono stated. Prof. Hartono specifically expressed his pride and emotion over the UNS badminton team’s remarkable determination and perseverance. He emphasized that a national-level victory is never achieved overnight, but rather through intensive training, discipline, teamwork, and an unwavering competitive spirit. “Behind the trophy we see today lies a long journey, countless sacrifices of time, and the unwavering determination of our athletes and coaches to give their very best for their alma mater,” he added.

Campus League CEO Ryan Gozali also praised the historic achievement of the UNS badminton team. He highlighted the team’s remarkable fighting spirit, noting that despite a group-stage defeat, the UNS contingent bounced back and ultimately secured the national championship title. Ryan expressed hope that this achievement would further strengthen UNS’s commitment to sustainable sports development, from identifying promising young athletes to providing comprehensive training facilities. He also expressed the possibility that Surakarta could be selected as the host city for a future Campus League season.
On this occasion, the Campus League management presented a special trophy featuring a record of the team’s journey, the complete player roster, and match documentation as a commemorative keepsake of UNS’s achievement. Dias Barata Laksmana, commonly known as Bara, a member of the UNS badminton team’s coaching staff, expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support from the university and faculty leadership.
“The support from university leadership goes beyond providing facilities; it also includes the moral encouragement and confidence that motivate our athletes to compete. We dedicate this trophy presentation to all athletes, coaches, mentors, and members of the academic community who have continuously supported and prayed for our journey,” Bara said.
UNS’s inaugural championship title at the Campus League Badminton 2026 is expected to inspire all UNS students to continue developing their potential and achieving outstanding accomplishments in their respective fields.
