UNS – The Komadiksi Festival 2024, organized by the Bidikmisi Student Solidarity Group (Komadiksi) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, highlighted a variety of art and cultural performances. Held at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium at UNS, the event allowed students to showcase their talents, creativity, academic achievements, and effective teamwork.
This year, Komadiksi Festival 2024 embraced the theme, “Optimizing Education as a Vital Instrument for Building National Mentality and Character.” The festival aimed to create a space for students to hone their skills, featuring competitions to encourage achievement and creativity. The event is expected to provide lasting, positive impacts beyond its immediate success.
“A special showcase was put on by UNS students, featuring arts and culture prominently. Traditional dances, stand-up comedy, pencak silat, and live band performances all contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of Komadiksi Festival 2024,” Bonar Eko Prasetyo, the Festival’s Event Chair, explained on Thursday (10/3/2024).
The festival’s grand finale on Monday (9/16/2024) also announced winners of the national essay and infographic competitions, which invited students from across Indonesia. The competition theme was “The Role of Students in Advancing Educational Transformation to Achieve Indonesia’s SDGs 2030.”

This event has the potential to address educational challenges, inspire innovation, and lead a collective movement toward a sustainable and inclusive future. Through active engagement and tangible contributions, students are helping to foster a more sustainable and equitable educational framework, impacting future generations and Indonesian society as a whole.
Education itself remains a cornerstone of sustainable development. One of the primary aims of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030 is to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all and to promote lifelong learning opportunities. Quality education encompasses not only access to education but also the caliber of learning content, teaching methods, and learning outcomes. A strong educational foundation is essential for individual and societal growth, supporting economic progress, equality, and social welfare.
Educational transformation must encompass systemic changes to secure inclusive, fair, and quality education for everyone. This includes empowering students to actively engage in learning, strengthening teachers’ capacities, incorporating technology in education, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders such as governments, the private sector, and civil society. Students, with their knowledge and enthusiasm, play a critical role in driving this transformation.
