UNS —- The Volunteer Corps (KSR) for the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), in Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, held another blood donation on Wednesday (21/10/2020) at IKA UNS Building. The event, which aims to assist the Surakarta Red Cross (PMI Kota Surakarta) to fulfill the blood supply in Surakarta, is a routine agenda for the KSR PMI UNS every two months. This month blood donation was the third blood donation organized by the KSR PMI UNS during the pandemic.
On this occasion, there are 48 blood donors registrants, which resulted in 40 blood bags. The participants in this blood donor various professions such as students, officials, and the general public. Each participant is required to follow a strict screening starting from temperature check and filling the Covid-19 forms, to ensure their health. During the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, each blood donor event must adhere to the required health protocol. According to Annisa as the Chair of the Organizing Committee, the current blood donor receives huge enthusiasm from the public. “Even though we are still in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the enthusiasm to donate blood is high. Because of this, our objective to get 40 bags is achieved,” Annisa told the uns.ac.id team.
Meanwhile, dr. Yosa, one of the doctors involved in the blood donor event, welcomes this routine activity organized by KSR PMI UNS. “This is a positive activity, considering the ongoing Covid pandemic, PMI needs a huge supply to ensure the stability of blood supply. During this pandemic, the demand for blood donor increases, hopefully, this activity can continue for a long time,” said dr. Yosa. Humas UNS
