UNS — The Master Program in English Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a ‘Virtual International Conference on Teacher Training and Education 2020’ through Zoom Cloud Meeting application. The event raised the theme of ‘Post-Pandemic Language Pedagogy: Perspectives and Direction’, and was held from 22 to 25 September 2020.
The Committee Chairman of Virtual International Conference on Teacher Training and Education 2020, Dr. Nur Arifah Drajati stated that education sector that experienced a transition from classroom and conventional meeting to hybrid learning and fully online learning encouraged foreign teachers, education institution, and researchers to formulate future education plan. This event is held to provide a means for researchers, academicians, teachers, schools, headmasters, government institutions, and consultant to share views and though on the trend of teacher training education from the perspective of institutional quality assurance, innovative learning, research in education, course development, and post-pandemic language pedagogy teaching practice.
“On Monday (21/9/2020), the event started with a webinar on ‘Seeing your name in print! Getting your report published in the Asia TEFL Journal’. Christine Coombe a journal editor from Dubai Men’s College the United Arab Emirates is invited as a presenter,” Dr. Nur Arifah explained.
The event was continued on Tuesday (22/9/2020) with 10 keynote speakers, among others Jonathn Reinhardt (The University of Arizona), Joko Nurkamto (UNS), Christine Coombe (Dubai Men’s College the United Arab Emirates), Jonathan Newton (Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand), Alice Chik (Macquarie University Australia), Yilin Sun (South Seattle College USA), Ju Seong Lee (Education University of Hongkong), Umi Widiati (Universitas Negeri Malang), Chan Narith Keuk (Royal University of Phnom Penh Cambodia) and Colm Downes (British Council the United Kingdom).
There were 137 presenters and 25 participants from various countries that attended the ‘International Virtual Conference’ and were greeted by the Dean of FKIP UNS, Dr. Mardiyana and the Head of Postgraduate English Education Program UNS, Prof. Joko Nurkamto. The event was opened by the Vice-Rector for Partnership and Planning Affairs UNS, Prof. Sajidan. The conference will be closed on 25 September 2020 with a presentation from 3 Keynote speakers, Yilin Sun (South Seattle College USA), Christine Coombe (Dubai Men’s College the United Arab Emirates) and Joko Nurkamto (UNS).
