UNS — Student Creativity Week (PKM) Center Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held webinar series PKM Center Menyapa. The program was held six times from Tuesday (22/2/2022) to Sunday (27/2/2022) through the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform. The Tips Sukses PKM (Success PKM Tips) event raises different themes for each series according to the existing PKM types.
The speakers invited to this event are the alumni of National Student Science Week (Pimnas) last year. The first series on Tuesday (23/2/2022) discussed the Success Tips for PKM Science and Technology Application (PI) and Community Services (PM) with Iksan Riva Nanda, Dwi Yudha, and Royhan Ikbar as speakers.
Iksan stated that community services cover science and technology and art implementation for the partners who have not generated profits. This program aims to improve the community’s standard of living. Iksan also shared the components that must be included in PKM-PM. “There must be a partner; it can be formal and non-formal education institution, tourism office, or social organization. There should be an original problem from the partner, not the student. The offered solution should be unique and make the unproductive community productive. The format needs to follow the guidelines because administration affects the content,” he explained. Iksan also added that increasing discussion with the partners could improve the preparation stages. Especially considering that sustainability becomes an assessment criterion in PKM.
Dwi Yudha explained that PKM-PI and PKM-PM are similar, but PKM-PI requires students to find productive partners who have generated profits. The solution offered in this program is science and technology implementation that has been discussed with the partner. “The examples of partners with-profits are MSMEs, farmers, cooperative, cultivation, trades, small industries, and large industries. The proposal must contain improvement for a product, quality, production process, sanitation, and production capacity to emphasize the PKM-PI. Waste management is also included, the solution should be ready to apply and not a prototype, and the solution should not eliminate the existing line of work,” he explained.
At the end of the session, Dwi Yudha shared tips to prepare an excellent PKM-PI proposal, including following the administrative requirement such as title, font types, and size; students also need to ensure that their contents are aligned with the partners and the scheme. “Thus, you need to discuss with partners often to find a solution that solves the issue,” Dwi stated.
