UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students optimized tourism and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) development in Ngrayudan Village, Jogorogo Subdistrict, Ngawi District. One of their Student Community Service Program (KKN) conducted first aid socialization and training on Tuesday (8/2/2022). The program was held in collaboration with Indonesia Redcross (PMI) and the Regional Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD) of Ngawi.
The program aims to increase tourism destination managers’ skills and knowledge regarding first aid. The materials were also expected to assist destination managers in applying first aid in disaster conditions at the tourism site. Socialization and training also improve people’s awareness and preparedness towards natural disaster threats during the rainy season.
Ngrayudan Village is a rural tourism site in Mount Lawu slope. The village has a hillside covered by pine trees panorama that hides disaster potentials in the forms of landslides and falling trees. “Therefore, basic first aid knowledge and disaster mitigation are needed. Not only for tourism destination managers but also all Ngrayudan people,” KKN 118 UNS Group Vice Chairman, Fajar, explained on Tuesday (22/2/2022).
After the socialization and training, the KKN Team held voluntary blood donations attended by Ngawi Head of PMI and Ex-Regent, Bupati Ngawi, Budi Sulistyo. KKN UNS Team also distributed a first aid kit and installed an evacuation route and meeting point. The team also conducted photography training for MSMEs’ products and shared tips to increase sales, branding, and preparing booklet and marketing materials.
Ngarayudan people welcomed the programs, as stated by Ngrayudan Village Chief Suwarno, who thanked the students for their programs. “Hopefully, KKN UNS activities could benefit Ngarudan people, and KKN UNS could be implemented again in Ngrayudan Village,” he added. Humas UNS
