UNS – Students from the Student Creativity Program (PKM) in Entrepreneurship at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta created an innovative educational game for disaster mitigation for children. The product is named Fumi Card, a set of educational cards designed for children aged 8 and above. The game serves as a medium for introducing disaster mitigation in Indonesia.
The creation process of the game by the PKM K UNS team began in June 2023. They embraced the innovative idea of teaching the importance of disaster mitigation knowledge to children aged 8 and above. The UNS students sought to address the topic of natural disasters as they occur in various regions of Indonesia and remain a significant concern to date.
Velisa Nur’aini, the Head of the PKM K UNS team, explained that this innovation aims to engage children in understanding disaster mitigation. This way, when a natural disaster occurs, children will know what they should do. Velisa acknowledged that games are the most effective way to provide knowledge or education to children.
“Children prefer playing over studying. Games are the most suitable way to educate children,” she stated on Thursday (9/11/2023).
The business product of the PKM K team is trademarked as “Fumi Card,” an abbreviation for “Fun Mitigation Card.” This student innovation is designed as a study companion for children, offering insights into disaster mitigation.
Moreover, the product is integrated with the inaRISK website managed by the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB). This integration is an effort to introduce a website that can serve as a source of information about disaster vulnerabilities in each region.
The PKM K student business product, named “Fumi Card,” has been validated by experts and marketed to elementary schools in Surakarta and the general public through the official Fumi Card social media. Children are enthusiastic about playing and learning with Fumi Card.
The price for one game set is IDR 65,000. The Fumi Card product can be purchased through the official social media accounts of Fumi Card or through the official e-commerce platform listed on the Instagram account @fumi.card.
The PKM K team consists of five members, led by Velisa Nur’aini. The team includes Illiyyin Putuhana, Khofifah Imania, Izza Laila Nur Rohmah, and Salsa Dilla Deva Pramudhita. The creation process of Fumi Card was guided by Fairusy Fitria, S.Pd., M.Pd., a lecturer at UNS.
