UNS — Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta inaugurated the Vocational School (SV) Building at Madiun Campus on Friday (11/3/2022). The SV building on the Madiun Campus was inaugurated directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Ir. Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the same time as the inauguration of the UNS Tower Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building. The inauguration was held simultaneously with the celebration of the 46th UNS Anniversary. The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, said that the inauguration of the two buildings signifies UNS’s development into a world-class university.
“Marking the improvement Universitas Sebelas Maret to be a world-class college, we appealed to you, Mr. President, to be willing to give a brief directive and inaugurate the 11-story UNS Tower building that we dedicate to the name of Ki Hadjar Dewantara. We also reported that coincides with the UNS Tower Building inauguration, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendi, accompanied by the Governor of East Java, and the Regional Leaders Forum (Forpinda) to attend the inauguration of the UNS campus in Madiun,” said Prof. Jamal.
President Jokowi welcomed this initiative. He advised that a university such as UNS should be agile and adapt quickly to the various changes that are currently occurring rapidly. “Universities must be agile, quickly adapt to existing changes, and be up-to-date. But watch out for competitors because the world is changing rapidly. This rapid development should be followed by a dynamic educational program. The research sector must also be developed swiftly,” President Jokowi said in his directive.
The UNS campus in Madiun offers three Study Programs (Programs) Outside the Main Campus (PSDKU). PSDKU refers to the program organized by the main campus at a remote district or city area, which is not nearby the main campus area. The three PPSDKUs opened at Madiun Regency Campus are the Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Informatics Engineering, and Diploma in Agricultural Products Technology.
The three programs are managed directly by UNS SV. The satellite campus establishment means that even though the teaching and learning process is carried out on the Caruban campus, Madiun, quality assurance is carried out according to the standards applied on the main UNS campus in Kentingan, Surakarta. The quality assurance process includes prospective students selection process, lecturers and education personnel, curriculum, learning materials, facilities, research, and community service.
The Dean of Vocational School, Drs. Santoso Tri Hananto, M. Acc., Ak. said that each program would accommodate 50 students per class. “The capacity for new students is 50 students per study program per class, so there are 150 students each year,” explained Drs. Santoso. The newly inaugurated SV UNS new building is expected to support student learning at Madiun Campus. In addition, the new UNS SV Building is also intended to facilitate Madiun residents to access higher education easily in their region. Humas UNS
