UNS – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta became the host for the Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan (or Deposit Insurance Corporation) Back to Campus 2024. The event took place at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNS on Thursday (3/7/2024). Attended by dozens of participants, LPS invited UNS students to be part of maintaining the stability of the national financial system.
LPS Back to Campus 2024 at UNS presented several socialization sessions. Various interesting topics were discussed, including an introduction to roles and functions, recruitment information, and scientific competitions. Two speakers were invited to share stories and information about LPS. They were Director of the LPS Research Group, Herman Saherudin, and Director of the LPS Human Resources Group, Reny Wiriandhani.
Present at the event were Director of the Directorate of Finance and Asset Optimization UNS, Taufiq Arifin, S.E., M.Sc., Ak, CA., Head of the Career Development Center (CDC) UNS, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kusnandar, M.Si., and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs of FMIPA UNS, Prof. Fitria Rahmawati, S.Si., M.Si.
Taufiq Arifin, representing the UNS leadership, expressed gratitude to LPS for the long-standing cooperation. On this occasion, UNS became the first destination campus for the LPS Back to Campus program in 2024. Through this socialization, Taufiq also encouraged students to join institutions at the national and international levels.
“For us, we strongly encourage students to join institutions that are based nationally and internationally, such as LPS. It is indeed our target,” Taufiq said.
In addition, the careers of UNS students in the future workforce will also contribute to the achievement of the university’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU). UNS students who obtain jobs at national and international level institutions will have a higher weight in achieving IKU. Taufiq regarded LPS as one of the institutions worth considering for students when building their careers.
One of the socialization topics was the LPS Call for Research. This program is open to UNS students who have research ideas related to financial system issues in Indonesia. The achievements of UNS students in this program in previous years have shown that they are able to compete with other campuses.
Reny Wiriandhani provided important tips for participants. For her, being an active individual is much better than just being smart. Non-technical skills are highly needed in the workforce. These skills can be obtained through various extracurricular activities outside of lectures.
“There are many extracurricular activities. They teach about leadership, time management, and communication. We are looking for those who are active,” Reny said.
