The Peak of KEF Event 2020, HMP Kovalen Held National Webinar

UNS — The Student Association of Chemistry Education Program (Kovalen) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a national webinar to mark the peak of Kovalen Edu Fair (KEF) 2020. The event that took the theme of ‘Synergy of Science and Technology in Developing Youth Passion in Society 5.0 Era’ was held online through Zoom Meeting application on Sunday (1/11/2020. HMP Kovalen FKIP UNS invited three speakers, Dr. Eng. Khoirul Anwar, Edy Fajar, S.P., and Dr. Sri Yamtinah.

Dr. Eng. Khoirul Anwar is the Director of The Center for Advanced Intelligent Communications (AICOMS) discussed the material on society 5.0. He stated that society 5.0 is a new type of society akin to hunting society which is a development in human technology. “If we see the technological development in Japan which the concept is not limited to economic gain, the previous era is a standard era, the revolution took around 100 years, this revolution found the technology for new industries. If science is only developed for the economy, it will be better if it is developed to search for knowledge, engineering 39%, basic science 60%,” he explained.

This shows the development of a country. In Indonesia as a developing country, the basis for telecommunication is included as an application. This is because in Indonesia it is heavily focused on theory, while in the international community it has directed into practice. Society 5.0 in developed countries always refers to happiness, live comfortably, vitality, and life quality. Technology for developed countries acts as the agent of society, while in the developing countries have not mastered the skill to apply the technology due to their young age. “However, even though we are young, we keep searching for knowledge to grant life for knowledge. Happiness is not solely come from money, but also come from the knowledge,” he added.

The next speaker is Edy Fajar, S.P. who is a sociopreneur. He shared his view surrounding entrepreneur in the society 5.0 era. “For every problem, there is an opportunity, technology in itself brings a way on how we can learn many things,” he explained. He added that the number of social media accounts for newest information indirectly shows the role of technology and how artificial intelligence has made life easier. This era is also an era in which title does not reflect competence. The research argued that 2020 focuses on human stuck or human as control. Therefore, the offline activities will decline and people will be more focused on online activities. “The point is all activities will focus on human, no matter how advanced a technology is, it will never beat the human that created it,” he stated.

The last speaker is Dr. Sri Yamtinah, a Faculty Member of Chemistry Education FKIP UNS who stated that the role of society 5.0 is great because it provides web-based learning media. With the change of era, she stated that she is very lucky because in a Doctoral degree people can utilize data analysis tools in computer. “Previously we used blackboard and chalk. In this era, teachers are demanded to conduct distance learning, but this method is more effective and makes students more active,” she explained. Humas UNS
