UNS — The trustee council (Majelis Wali Amanat – MWA) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has been successfully established. In the meeting to establish MWA UNS led by Prof. Weidy Murtini and Muhammad Zainal Arifin in the Rectorate Building dr. Prakosa, Monday (2/11/2020), selected the TNI Commander Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto as the Chairman of MWA. This selection went through the deliberation which reaches a consensus. Before appointed as the Head of MWA, Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto was the Head of UNS Board of Trustee.
In performing his duty, Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto will be assisted by Prof. Hasan Fauzi as Vice Chairman of MWA UNS and Prof. Tri Atmojo Kusmaryadi as the secretary of MWA UNS. The MWA establishment meeting was also attended by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho and the Chairman of Academic Senate (Senat Akademik – SA) UNS, Prof. Adi Sulistiyono. In a meeting after the professor inauguration ceremony, Tuesday (3/11/2020) afternoon, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho appreciated the establishment of MWA UNS which he considered running promptly. For him, the selection and appointment of MWA members and chairman through deliberation to a consensus is the best option.
“After PTN BH, we have four organs and MWA is the most crucial. And, we can solve the selection through deliberation to a consensus appointed 17 members of MWA. Therefore, I convey my gratitude, after this, we will send the structure to the minister to receive stipulation from the Kemendikbud,” Prof. Jamal stated. Prof. Jamal added that during the process of selecting the representative from the community, UNS weight a number of things, including the representative from the community which consist of three components, Board of Trustee, Supervisory Board, and Executive Committee. These components, according to Prof. Jamal deserve to be included as MWA components because they have contributed to UNS during its earlier status as BLU.
“The Academic Senate agreed that these three components can be the representatives of the community because the Board of Trustee has 22 members, Supervisory Board has 3 members, and the Executive Committee has 2 members. Then we made a proportion for Board of Trustee 2 members, Supervisory Board 1 member, and Executive Committee 1 member. Thus, the representatives 2-1-1 means four,” Prof. Jamal explained.
Function and Members of MWA UNS
MWA becomes an important organ for UNS after designated as a university with legal entity (PTN BH) through the Governmental Decree (PP) Number 56 of 2020 by the President of RI Joko Widodo on 6 October 2020. This is mentioned in Article 24 PP Number 6 of 2020 concerning the organizational structure of UNS which consists of MWA, SA, executive board, and Board of Professor. Besides determining the leaders, the meeting to establish MWA also determined 17 members for 2020 – 2023 period. The members of MWA UNS consist of the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) RI Nadiem Makarim, Rector, Chairman of SA, 4 representatives of the community, 7 members of SA, 1 representative from alumni, 1 representative from Academic Staff, and 1 representative from students.
The Marshall TNI Hadi Tjahjanto, Gunawan Sulistyo (General Director of Pegadaian), Suprayitno, and Charmaida Tjokrosuwarno are selected as the representatives from the community. Prof. Hasan Fauzi, Prof. Istadiyanta, Prof. Tri Atmojo Kusmayadi, Prof. Mahendra Wijaya, Prof. Weidy Murtini, Prof. Yusep Muslih Purwana, and Dr. Eni Lestari are selected as the representatives from SA UNS. The other MWA members are Budi Harto as the Executive Director of PT. Hutama Karya was selected as the representative from alumni, Mohammad Sholihin, S. Ag, SIP as the representative from the Academic Staff, and Muhammad Zainal Arifin as the representative from students. Humas UNS
