UNS — The rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho gave motivation and inspiration in front of the teachers and students of SMK Negeri 2 Wonogiri. The event held in SMK N 2 Wonogiri Hall on Tuesday (10/3/2020) is an activity in UNS Mengajar Indonesia (UNS Teaching) in commemorating UNS 44th Anniversary.
On the occasion, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Jamal Wiwoho delivered a speech on Merdeka Belajar and Kampus Merdeka. The program was launched by the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud), Nadiem Makarim some time ago. In front of hundreds of SMKN 2 Wonogiri students, Prof. Jamal invited schools to implement Merdeka Belajar.
Further, Prof. Jamal stated that UNS Mengajar Indonesia is the first time implemented by UNS. He invited all UNS academic members, students, and alumni to teach. This is also a form of community engagement with the community.
In the event, the Rector of UNS also asked students to upload the UNS Mengajar Indonesia event in their social media to introduce UNS to the wider community.
“This is the highlight of the UNS 44th Anniversary. UNS Mengajar Indonesia holds in all parts of Indonesia, started from 28th February and has been conducted in Aceh, Medan, Jambi, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, including Papua,” Prof. Jamal stated.
UNS Mengajar Indonesia represents UNS presence and concern on education. University has to present and concerned about education especially on Merdeka Belajar and Kampus Merdeka programs.
The Headmaster of SMK Negeri 2 Wonogiri, Dra. Irianingsih, M.Pd. expressed her gratitude for the presence of the Rector of UNS who has provided motivation and inspiration to the students of SMK N 2 Wonogiri. The school hopes that UNS Mengajar will provide motivation to the students of SMK N 2 Wonogiri to study as highly as possible.
“We hope that the visit of UNS Rector will provide knowledge for students and teachers,” said Irianingsih.
Irianingsih also stated that there are many UNS alumni who currently work as teachers in SMK N 2 Wonogiri. “There are 43 UNS alumni who currently work in SMK N 2 Wonogiri,” she stated, applauded by students.
The Head of the Wonogiri Education and Culture Office, Dr. Dra. Yuli Bangun N., M.Pd., who is also an alumnus of UNS admitted that she is very happy with the visit from the Rector of UNS in SMK N 2 Wonogiri. The district government of Wonogiri has prepared Local Government Budget (APBD) for scholarship and education of students who will continue to the university, 12 million rupiahs a year for those who study in Public University.
