UNS – The Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Medical Team, Surakarta is deployed for the second term to the location affected by landslide in Sipayung, Sukajaya, Bogor Regency on Friday night (17/01/2020).
The deployment of the second term Medical Team is attended by the Vice Rector of Student and Alumni Affairs, UNS, Prof. Kuncoro Diharjo. Before the vehicle that will bring the 7 members of the UNS Medical Team was dispatched to the disaster location, Prof. Kuncoro directly checks the readiness of the equipment and medicines to be brought.
“We adjust the equipment based on the assessment from our first team there (red: Sipayung village). Based on the data, they found health problem, thus we will be more focused on health issues,” Prof. Kuncoro said when asked about the readiness of the second UNS Medical team.
In this second term, Prof. Kuncoro detailing that UNS deployed 2 internists, 1 psychiatrist, 1 dermatologist, 1 general practitioner, and 2 Mapala students from the Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNS.
After the first deployment of the Medical Team to landslide affected area on the last Saturday (11/01/2020), UNS continued to monitor the development of the team and the current condition on the disaster area. This intended that UNS can always check the readiness of the Medical Team members, medicine stock, equipment, and the development regarding the condition of the affected communities.
To uns.ac.id, Prof. Kuncoro mentioned that the intensity of the disaster victims to visit UNS health post in Sipayung village for treatment keep increasing. Based on the newest data provided by the UNS Medical Team, currently, the number of refugees that visit UNS posts in Sipayung for health treatment can reach hundreds in a day.
“Our main post in Sipayung lately received in average 269 patients for a day. UNS Team provides treatment until 22.00 WIB. Later there will be additional doctor arrived from Jakarta tonight, who is also UNS alumnus,” he added.
As a result of the increasing number of refugees, the medicines stock of the UNS Medical Team in Sipayung was running low. However, Prof. Kuncoro said that the concern on the medicine stock depletion has been resolved through the assistance provided directly by RS Al Mintohardjo, Jakarta.
“The medicine supply in the first term was running low. We also collaborate with UNS alumnus, Kolonel Laut (K) dr. Wiweka, MARS, who is the Director of RS Al Mintohardjo, for medical supplies on Monday,” he said.
With the extension of the emergency response period by the Regional Government of Bogor Regency for 14 days, Prof. Kuncoro wished that UNS Medical Team can continue to provide the best service to the affected communities until they can recover and get a stable condition.
