UNS — A student from History Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta won the first position in the national Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Expo Competition. This competition is a series of Indonesia Agribusiness Fair 2020 held by the Faculty of Economics and Management Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) on October 2020. This student is Fiska Amanda Putri, a final semester student in History Education Program.
Fiska is a young entrepreneur who has a Brownies cake culinary business named Bronis Lur. This product is her innovation by substituting flour as the main ingredient with organic brown rice flour, so this product is gluten-free. “Currently, I also innovate to make Brownies Lur Chips and Cookies to reach the wider market from Sabang to Merauke,” she explained in an interview with uns.ac.id, Tuesday (8/12/2020).
The competition was held online through several stages, started from registration to presentation from the top 5 finalists. The registration process was held on 19-25 September 2020, followed by a poster and video submission on 27-29 September, then MSME Expo and participant quarantine on 30 September – 1 October, and concluded with presentation and winner announcement on 5 October 2020.
Fiska added that Brownies Lur Chips and Cookies could last up to 4 months shelf life at room temperature. The variety of flavors offered in her products are chocolate, milk, and matcha, with options for toppings such as almond, sangria peanut, Choco chip, and cheese. These flavors and toppings were highlighted by Fiska product in the Indonesia Agribusiness Fair Competition 2020 so that she managed to win over a dozen other participants from students and the general public.
When announced as the winner, Fiska stated that she was delighted and grateful for the result mainly because this competition is not limited to university students, but also the general public. “The participants were MSME owners in Indonesia. I was surprised when I knew that I am the youngest participant in the competition,” Fiska said.
She hopes that this achievement can become a motivation to continue working and develop Brownies Lur business. “In the future, I want to achieve more and to continue to develop. This win is a form of development or progress for myself,” she concluded. Humas UNS
