UNS — Proud achievement was accomplished by three Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta students. Pradana Ricardo, Nurfitria Difanti, and Amanda Komsatun Sa’diyyah from the Indonesian Language and Literature Faculty of Cultural Studies (FIB) UNS won a gold medal in the Youth International Science Fair (YISF) 2022.
The competition was held in Universitas Dian Nuswantoro, Semarang on 14–17 March 2022. The team leader, Pradana Ricardo, shared to uns.ac.id that they submitted an application named Sastra Healing. The application contains the result of transfer work for literature works, from poems and short stories into musicalization and play.
The sixth semester added that the application also contains a musical instrument menu that can be used to increase the listener’s focus. In general, the application aims to reduce students’ anxiety and stress.
“The background (for the development of the app) was the Covid-19 pandemic that caused a shift from offline into the online learning process. The process brought several impacts, including increased stress and anxiety in students because of the increased number of assignments that they need to complete. Therefore, we try to develop this app,” Ricard explained on Monday (21/3/2022).
The competition was participated by 673 teams from 23 countries, Indonesia, the United States, Thailand, Malaysia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Macedonia, Serbia, and Russia. Thirty-five teams participated in the event offline.
Amanda Komsatun Sa’diyyah admitted that she is grateful and delighted with the gold medal from the competition. She hoped that the application could be launched and benefits the students. Difanti supported Amanda and stated that she did not expect to win the gold medal because she considered that they did not perform fully during the assessment process.
“Overall delighted. Alhamdulillah, we had the opportunity to participate in the competition and won the gold medal. Hopefully, the application can be developed in the future and released officially so that university students can use it. Hopefully, this achievement could become a motivation to achieve more in the future,” Difanti concluded. Humas UNS
