UNS — The Janda Bolong decorative plants or Monstera Adansonii Variegata recently got increasingly recognized by the general public due to its price. An agriculture expert from the Faculty of Agriculture (FP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Dr. Eddy Tri Haryanto states that the decorative plant indeed has its uniqueness with its hollow leaves. Specifically for Variegata species, it has unique leaves color with white and green.
“Because of its uniqueness, many people are searching for this plant, especially those who love collecting decorative plants,” explains Dr. Eddy, Thursday (8/10/2020).
Decorative plants, including Janda Bolong, have great potential not only in the local market but also in the international market. Dr. Eddy considers that this plant can be a means to improve the community economy after the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Due to the high demand, money circulates faster, thus the Janda Bolong boom can boost the economic condition in Indonesia,” he said.
The fame of this decorative plant can create a new business opportunity. However, before starting the business training in decorative planting is needed. “Entrepreneur can learn how to care for the plant, the marketing, and many others,” he added. Humas UNS
